Removing Paint from chrome?
Just got the car back from painting and the guy oversprayed some of the chrome, badge etc.
Anyone know an easy way to get this off????
Thanks in advance for any advise

Fine steel wool won't hurt chrome. Just dont rub the paint with it.

I always use razor blades...
If You wanted to paint the bumpers, the paint wouldn't stick to them....
Don't You polish Your bumpers??
The wax should stop the paint from sticking...

I would remove the item from the car and use paint stripped...
all other methods will scratch the chrome surface especially steel wool ... and rust will appear.
yo ucould also try and polish it off with a fine cutting compound and or polish or even paint thinners or Acetone but keep it away from the new
painted surface.

I think it would depend on if it is German OE chrome or Brazillian chrome.
German chrome - no worries, but I'd be carefull with Brazillian chrome.
BUT some of what is chromed is actually aluminium, ie the VW badge, side trim, quarterlight window frame- so that scratches up much easier than the
bumpers do.
All I could suggested is either the fine steel wool - and test it somewhere hidden, or try vw54 suggestions- or ask the paint man?

Chrome will scratch cause its SOFT and only 0.0003" thick.
bring yr Dullars up to Sydney I didnt do 4 years at Teck for nuthin ...

thanks guys
I tried teh razor blade and it worked OK but if you aren't careful you get niks and scratches. A blunt one works better.
The best i found was my fingernail but takes ages and you can't get into the pokey bits.
Will try some of teh other suggestions. I tried steel wool once before when i thought i was doing stainless (brain fade) was actually cheap chrome and
is now scratched

Chrome, soft!! Since when!!
But I must agree with Dave, pull the parts off and remove the overspray with paint stripper. Even very fine steel wool will leave scratches, these
scratches will polish out but it takes a bit of time. If it is a thin Braz. chrome it is easy to rub right through to the steel underneath. It can
happen, I've done it

IT WILL, and that is a fact.
go tell a chrome plater you use fine steel wool to clean chrome plating, and he will tell you to bring the stuff in so he can put the chrome back
on.

good old solid cutting compound usually does the trick perfectly well for me. just a bit of elbow grease and alot of rubbing with a cloth and all
paint comes off with no damage to chrome.
