Hi

Welcome along. The 1500 beetle shares many components with the later 1300 (4 wheel drums and swing axle) Beetles and the last Aussie beetle in 1976 (IRS and front discs). Some superbug parts will fit, virtually anything from the windscreen back, they used IRS and apart from the rear window being larger on 72 models parts from these cars can be used on yours.

Thanks for that - but let me get this clear - so any body from 1970 to 76 - including some superbugs (except 72 rear window) - will fit onto 1970 pan and interchange with the parts???

Are the body's all exactly the same? Or is it just that they will fit onto the pan??

yes - sorry, I didn't read correctly

So bodies - 1970 - 76(any earlier?) - 1300, 1500, 1600 is this correct??

Parts - 1970 - 76 (again, any earlier?) 1300, 1500, 1600 & superbugs

Please confirm so that I know exactly what I'm looking for (already bought one incorrect body - ie superbug - don't want to make the same mistake...)

Hi

A quick Aussie VW history.

6 volt Beetles, nothing much you can use
Then came your model, the 1500 Beetle
Then in 1971 VW had 2 Beetle models, the 1300 povo model and the Superbug, the superbug later became the L bug with curved front screen bnut only until 1975, then in 1976 the last aussie Beetle was made, looked much like your car, except bigger back window, 1/2 moon vents at rear of side windows, 4 vent engine lid, 1600 motor, IRS, disc brakes, padded dash, high back seats, larger tailights, & blinkers in the front bumper.

Thanks for that - i'm not fully up on the years/models/changes etc - but am learning, thanks to people like you.

So can you give me a brief years/models for body - and years/models for parts just to put it in a nutshell....(ie that will fit/interchange with with my 1970 1500).

Thanks....

Gazza
