BLUE_62 - Standard

Hey peoples,

this is my Powder blue 62 Custom beetle a day before i go and pick it up. For something that old, thats original paint, i think it is standing up pretty well. One owner for the past 16 years. Trim has just been re-done alsong with new carpet. Has had a 12volt conversion done and a 1600 single port.. Soon to come is some empi 5's and some pin striping. Also keen for a front sun visor, slightly lower it (which will be left in the capable hands of 'PHAT BUG' - thanks Rhett ;) and we will see what happens from there. Am going to go for a classic/sports/retro look so should give me something to do for a while. More photos as time progresses. I'll post some of the engine bay etc when i pick up the car.

Cheers

Freshed up interior. Yes. Agreed. Door cards have to go along with the wiring for the speakers. :)

Hey Rhett, you remember when my Beetle was like that? I don't think I knew you then.. Man, that is exactly how I started with that..

Add bits... Rhett knows a thing or two, so he might be able to help ya.. ;)

The most fun is accessorising..

Howdy all,

Updates. I have serviced the ol girl with new plugs, leads, points, air filter, oil, adjusted the timing. Have changed the exhuast tips to give a louder and deeper note, fitted a front sun visor, and some nice new wheel dress trims. Its getting there slowly. Whatya all think?

Rear end shot. Love the exhuast tips in the relaxed position. Juts a bit different than the normal horizontal mounted ones.

Finally got around to cleaning up the grease pit of a motor. A nice ramflow air filter on a custom mounting plate, and the little ricer oil breather filter is a nice touch i thought... Still plenty to clean and customize up. Gimme time. More photos to come.

Thanks. Always plenty to do. Put a front bar on it today that is not missing its chrome so that looks 100%, fitted new heat riser tubes in the motor bay (gloss black ones), new dizzy cap, and polished the coil back to a chrome appearence. Adjusted the headlights tonight too so theyt actually work properlly. Not bad for normal globes and lenses. Tomorrows efforts will be hiding some of the wiring. Have another car on its way for parts. Mine should be sporting an adjustable front beam soon, and the rear will be dropped one spline. I have some 15 x 6.5's comin for the rear wearing 205's and the front will be sporting 145's. They should be ready soon. Getting taken to the powder coating man to be done in white. Also some nice new centre caps should be just around the corner. The list is endless, and unfortunatly the bloody bank account aint. :duh All in good time hey. I'll get an update photo of the engine bay when the wiring is all hidden. Should look a little better again. Dunno about show condition. Paint is f**ked beyond repair but will certainly try and make it shiney..... I think u can make shit shine....? :duh

OK, i got bored this morning and as paint was getting pretty tierd i thought i have not got much to lose. Whatya all think?

The paint has bleeded through a little but i think it just makes it look a little more original and faded. We'll call it artistic flare :thumb

The ol girtl got her second dose of paint today and a light polish by hand. Its come up quite well if i do say so myself.
A shot of the motor now all wiring is hidden, the coil has been polished, new heat riser tubes. We are getting there. Bit more to do bewteen now and the day of the VW. My wider back wheels should be on early next week. Will post some photos of that when i can. For now, a shot of the final product and and engine shot.

Cheers
