Restored 1964 Beetle .........SOLD!
PROJECT 64 is For Sale
For those who do not know, PROJECT 64 is the 1964 Beetle restored by the Volkswagen Drivers Club of Queensland Incorporated (VWDCQInc). The Art Union
was a unique way to help raise funds for charity. This could not have been done without the help of Morayfield Smash Repairs, D J Mechanical, Auto
Rust Fix, Volksworld, Mick Motors, Custom Off Road Components, Phoenix Engineering, Sign-a-rama (QLD), Gary Moltzen Trimming and PPQ.
Progress along with the winner of the vehicle was shown in VW Magazine Australia Issue #4.
The winner “Christine” has reluctantly decided to sell the vehicle.
Christine
Everton Hills 4053
Ph 0418 984 854
Negotiable from $15K ****** NOW REDUCED to $12K******
(I am posting this for Christine)

Yeah but you dont restore cars to sell and get your money back, just saying 15k is a lot of money...but if you've got it then spend it, wont build
one to this quality for that price

it is, but it wasn;t built to sell, it was a prize in a raffle and i know how much work and skill went in to it (its pretty bad when you see 2 guys
dicussing the colour of the wheels centres and outers and what shade of white they should be!!).

That's your opinion and that's fine. So don't buy it. You don't need to tell everyone your not going to buy it.
I think $15,000 is allot for a Hyundai Getz too but you don't see me walking around at the new car yards with a big sign that says yeek!

Unless you have been over, through, around and under this car then you are not aware of the high level of care put into this restoration by Old Dubber
and other members.
A lovely looking cruiser and a credit to the Qld VW Driver's Club inc.
Like many others who bought tickets I wish I could have won it.
It's real value is only what someone is willing to pay. |

i always think it sad that when someone enters and then wins, only to sell it for a $$$. good luck with the sale though. and you never know maybe you
mgiht get half the profit back to your charities taht it was done for in the first place, as a result of selling it.
like i saw once some one had a raffle of a house that they had won. they then immediately sold the house. the raffle raised 265000. but the person
sold the house for 390000. always thought maybe the charity shoulda sold it for 370000. woulda been alot better for em, hey.

now thats an idea silver. we could do the raffle onthe forum. set a price for the tickets taht would cover an amount realistic for the buyer and then
put the rest to charity again. some one should sell the idea to the winner, rather than that person, and no offence, cashing in on something they dont
want.
let it go to some one who would and give more money to charity.... woohooo!

MikeM, I bought it about 8 weeks back from Peter Keegan in Orange NSW and drove it back one fine Sunday in 11.5 hours straigth through to Bracken
Ridge QLD.
Peter did all the body and mechanical work himself and his with the roof lining and trim. |

Im not disputing that well over 15k went into it, i did look over it last weekend and at action day and when it was being restored...
Next time when im discussing the wheels with a mate in a private conversation i'll be wary of people listening, just in case i offend
someone...obviously you didnt listen to the whole conversation as you would of heard us commenting on how lucky she was and the quality of the finish,
just thought if i had won it i would paint the centres of the wheels, break up th red a little...
Glad you didnt listen to all my conversations as you would have a whole forum on the things i did and didnt like at the gold coast show...

Both byronbus and Bix are correct i.e. the wheels should be twotone, but we could not organise the paint in the time space.
Besides it is something that can be done later, and it was myself and another member discussing the wheel colour that Bix overheard.
But just goes to show that bryonbus is as picky as me - must be a great bloke!!!!!!!!!!!
