1800 heads on 2lt ?????

Hey all,,

Has anyone out there put 1800 heads onto a 2lt? I am working on an old 2lt, the heads are really bad so was considering using pair off an 1800.
Possible?
If so any othe mods needed?

Thanks

AFAIK they bolt straight on. They're supposed to be an improvement over the 2l heads b/c they have bigger valves.

Crank, rods, pistons, barrels, flywheel, clutch are different.
The rest is the same pretty much.
Not sure on cam, push rods etc though.
Heads are straight swap.

The cam from the 1800 is a better option in the 2 liter if you are pulling the engine down but you will have to use the same lifters from the 1800 unless you get everything overhauled.I always ran the 1800 heads as they breath better with the larger valves.

Thanks again for the advice, will help out heaps.

Just cracked the case in the 2lt, looks fine, have to replace camshaft + bearings. Then off to get all checked/measured.

Andy, the clutch off the 1800 looks pretty much the same as the 2lt, are they really different?

Thanks

2lt motors definitely had a bigger flywheel and clutch than 1800's, along with a different starter. I don't see any reason though why you couldn't use whatever you have.

As Kol said, the diameters are different. You need to match the flywheel to the GB. If you have a 2L GB, bell housing and starter, you need the 2L flywheel and clutch on the motor you put in it.
Hope that helps!
