Good service
Just bought a 68 Beetle speedo from Karmann Cruiser for my Oval- Bloody good service and speedo was as described-excellent. It was a 140 KPH European
one and have sent it away to have it converted to read in MPH.Need something to read higher than 90MPH.Speedo bloke reckons he can change the small
kph symbol to mph as well.

Ummm,
isn't 144kmph = 90mph? or are you just changing the dial over?
Anyways, agree on the gear from Karmann Cruiser. My oval speedo turned up in great nick even if it hasn't been used yet and I have just ordered a
trip metered type 3 kmph speedo for the square.
hes easy to deal with and I fully expect it to be over here in a day or so.

Just curious, why have it changed to MPH. Aren't there plenty of MPH speedos around. Sorry, don't know much about beetles or their speedos.

Thanks for the praise!
But I didn't get it either why would you buy a rare km/h and have it converted to read mph.
At least you are happy with it.
Your dial would be still in kilometres, wouldn't it?
Cheers Matt

No the dial will read so that the max speed will be 140mph.Original 90mph speedo would be wound flat out well before changing into top gear. It's the
only way I can think of to have a speedo that can read the true road speed from 0 to flat out and keep it original looking.Could buy an electric VDO
to read high speeds-but they don't look like the originals. Hope that sounds clear.

OK I get it (I think).
You have it recalibrated to work in MPH, thus gaining an extra 50mph. The numbers are already there so all you need is to change the "KMH" to
"MPH".
Shiite, just how fast will this beetle go!!

I tried them as well and were not that helpful. They don't have a service department any longer.Their top tech bloke left and started up by
himself. He bought all their gear that he needed. His name is Don and is now Adelaide Instument Services situated at the city end of Norwood Parade.
Good bloke.
