It's a Type 3 motor from a Fastback. Not sure of year.

Where exactly was this no on the engine. The engine no itself on a type 3 is on the right case half, just in front of the fan housing. They follow a
letter/number format eg U0XXXXXX, or T0XXXXXX or similar.

the number is on the fan housing, perhaps it's the part no for that.
will check again...not sure if it's a type 1 coverted to type 3...

Yep looks about right. Built sometime after 7/67. To find out exactly what date the car was built you need the chassis no. I don't think engines
had unique numbers, but I could be wrong.
