Rat Bug Update.....RAT IS NOW FOR SALE!!!

Finally got round to starting the `60 Rat Bug.
Needs engine and `box which I pulled out today, dropped the back 2 splines while I`ve got the `box out.
Been a while since I did any work on the tribe, nothing better than 40 year old gearbox sludge!!
Can`t wait to start on the Split.
Graham.

Ok, I`ll go lower, 4 splines is plenty though.
No I`m not trying to start a Fad, I`m just expressing my inner self. You don`t have to copy me, it`s fine if you leave yours stock height, just don`t critisize someone for doing what they want. It`s a free country isn`t it.

Also fitted decent gearbox (thanks Aaron).
Then I fitted the axles up to the spring plates and, yeah, low as!!!
Check out the way it crushed the beer can!!..........................

Gettin the back that low is easy, it`s gettin the front down that low to match that`s a bit more involved.
I just repositioned the spring plates 2 outer splines on the rear torsion bars.
The front needs to be lowered and narrowed so the tyres will clear the guards.

Here`s some latest pics of the RAT.
I`m working on the narrowed front at the moment, the pics show the front wheels in the mock position. Not sure whether to go for 4" or fuck it and go the 6"er!!
Looks bloody fantastic though. I`m working on it all next week so hopefully will be at the Day of The Volkswagen in Glenelg next Sunday (6th).

Oh yeah, they are Paul`s (resto64) old rims and whitewalls. It`s crazy how the paint has faded on the Bug to a light blue. Flat it back a bit and it comes up the same as Paul`s wheels (Turkis??).
Cheers for the rims Paul!
