Insurance

Hey Guys

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will insure my 74 Kombi for what it is worth and not some imaginary figure that Joe insurance man picks out the air. I have had it insured before with an agreed value of $7500 but since moving to Brisbane they are all saying $2500 is the market value which is B/shit.

I also don't want to be paying massive premiums to get it fully comp, can anyone recommend an insurance company who accepts the value of a well kept VW Kombi?

Thanks
Stevie Boy!

SHANNONS are specialist insurance brokers for classic cars...

It seems to depend on who You talk to at Shannons, as to what conditions have to be met...

I was told: Car must be garaged & locked away each night..
the car could NOT be a daily driver.. that is to drive to work each day.. Maximum number of kms a year...
I could keep the car if it was a write off....

others have had different conditions or very few conditions...
Give them a ring... maybe they have different insurance for daily drivers etc...

First time I phoned Shannons a kid answered and when I told him I had a vw kombi , he asked how much I thought it was worth and I said between 25 and 30 and he said it must be the best kombi in the world, and it was proberbly only woth about 2-3 grand.
I then spoke to the manager and he apologised for the patronising salesman and the insured mine for a good value that will stay that price for 2 years at least.
as you have been told, it depends on who you speak to.

Cheers

A big thumbs up for shannons, they insured my buggy for what i said it was worth, not to many conditions apart from an alarm and it must be behind a locked gate or garaged when stored at home

Definitely Shannons. The guy I spoke to was a little old man who spent an hour explaining how good he felt when he bought his first beetle brand new in 1971.

I was with NRMA parked onstreet in a not-very-great neighbourhood and was paying $900 comprehensive p.a.

I moved to a better area, got a garage and my premium went UP to $1200...wtf...

Joined Shannons that day. :D
