Going to Drag the BUS

The Volks enthusiasts are having a bracket session at the drags next month.
I am going to have a go in the bus.
Guess I am going for the slowest award.
So what time do you think I will run.

1600 twin port
1500 box (straight axle)
extractors.
Bloody big air pushing body.

Cheers
Dave

are you going to warm up the tyres at the start i think you have to so you will get good traction

you should try this for really good traction just watch the wall when it launches,
if you do this you might take the orange smoothie , you know you want to

Adam.
Might have a small problem.
Do I need seat belts.???

Dont think I will pack the chute, I wont take it to full throttle.

Seriously I am thinking they might knock me back for not having seat belts. I will take the cooler off the roof and the cases, even though it would look cool dragging with the stuff on the roof rack.

lol.
You will need those seat belts. They will check your front wheels aren't wobbly, your brakes are good and that your seat is secure. They will make sure there is nothing that will fly around.
They will check to see that you are not leaking oil as well.

It's all real good fun though.

Dan.
Can you get a harness I can borrow.
Might see about fitting one seat belt for the day.
I have upper mounts hidden behind the lining, can use that and put some through the floor.

I am also thinking I might do late 20's.
What does a stock split run, or a stock 1600 beetle. might not beat that.
Also what does a 1200 beetle run, got to beat that!!

I'm hoping to get somewhere in the 15's.

It might be 21 secs, but if you can drive consistently every
time then you could take home the trophy.
Thats the beauty of bracket racing.
But dont forget you still have to cut a good reaction time at the lights and not red light.

Thank you Andrew for you comments.
But YOU should check YOUR facts first before making comments.
I stated that my post had been MOVED, NOT deleted.
It was MOVED from general posts to Drag, by someone who did not tell me or ask.

I had posted it in general so more people could see it, especially the bus owners.
If I had wanted it in this section I would have put it here.

And a great start to the New Year.

Come on people,

It was the volksenthusiasts drag day sunday at AIR. Been advertised for months.

How many VW raced? What times did they do? Did they get many runs in?

Were there many in attendance?

Pictures? surely there are some?

Fill in some details please.

I didnt go but I heard it was shit.
Only Dan (vwtyp2) in his v6 bay went down the strip, did a 16.1 I think.

No one else turned up.
I wasnt going to butcher mine and fit belts just for 1 day.

Cheers
