VolksRod...
Is any here building a Volksrod...???
I have started building one with plans for an extended front end, but the guy I was dealing with o/s has messed a member of another forum around a
bit, and I have shyed away from sending him any bucks, in case it turns to shite...
Does anyone in Oz have a front end extender or do you know of someone that is building them in this country..??
Any assistance would be appreciated..
Thanks.. |

Some of the front ends I've seen have the tie rods flipped over, so they are facing forward, which give you a longer wheel base. Is this the sort of
thing you're after?

Thanks Moose, I remember, but do you remember my reason...$$$$$$:puke:thumb
Thanks Anthiron, I'll do that...
bigbruvabob, I've got similar info from guys in the States, but to do it over here will cost Thousands of $$$$ which kind of defeats the purpose of
building a budget Volksrod, thanks though..
squizy, I've thought about that, but after reading the latest reports from a guy that tried it in the U.S, I'll stick with trying to extend it
rather than flip it..
He says the "Bump Steer" caused to car to shoot off line from one side of the road to the other..
Very Dangerous..
Cheers All... |

ok, I'll do it now...
I know a heap of guys in the hot rodding scene around here, and they find it cheaper to buy a Complete Holden Torana, take out the front suspension
unit and throw most of the rest of the car away, than to buy a single dropped I beam axle without any extras that make it useable...:o
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

Yeah that's me...
I'm Big Bad Bug over there, but for some reason it wouldn't let me have that name here...
Something to remember on the fripped arms idea, they are doing this in the U.S and possibly U.K and they can get away with doing a Lot more mods to
their cars than we can here..
(one guy in Perth brought his English street driven Chopped Blown Willys drag coupe` over and was told, "Don't even think about driving it on the
road here)... I'm not sure how dim a view would be taken by local authorities to driving a car with suspension control arms being run upside down and
back to front, besides at the end of the day I want to be able to jump in this car and go driving without my veiw being obscured by an ever present
yellow sticker on the chopped screen:P
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

There are many ways of doing it properly and legally here in Oz. I'm not divulging the details to all and sundry because too many things I have
discussed with my car have been ripped off and done in a shit way.... U2U me if you want some discussion and info.
The big thing which has turned me off extending the front end (hence longer wheelbase) is the fact that it then becomes an ICV and i'm not going to
comply with post 2000 ADRs!

for a 100 bucks you could use a double wishbone mitsubishi L300 front end thats what alot of hotrodders use thats what I,m using under my bug and
allows me to run 7" rims legally in vic. may help.

seen socal many times... That's where the picture above is from...
Go check their products section....
Hang on, I'll save you the time:
Products currently not available — stay tuned for new developments!
They are in the U.S and expensive...
THE simplest way to do this is to put a front end extender in there..
Thanks but I'm not interested in putting a Mitsubishi L300 front end, a Torana front end, a HT holden front end or a Jaguar front end in there...
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....
