Deals you've passed on and now go DOH!
Hello folks.. just thought i could share a story of me STUPIDLY passin' on a bargain..
Couple of years ago I saw a 51' split bug advertised in the papers in Perth. I had just got to learn about bugs then, and thought it would be
interesting to see why there's such a fuss about splits. So I called up and had a mate join me to look at the car.
It was black, stock original (chassis and engine nos), unrestored but very well kept. No rust. Semophores working, original headliner, seats, etc.
Very gd cond overall, and a engine tune up was all it needed.
The seller wanted $4500. NEGOTIABLE.
However, we got a little too distracted by the seller's silver 356 Speedster parked right next to the 51'. It didn't take us long before our 17 yr
old brains went 'Nah, not this bug. Besides who can see through those rear windows?'.
IdIOts.
I still dream about the bug till this day.. who wouldn't?
P/S By the way my apologies if this was discussed previously: tried to do a search but 195 pgs is just a little too much...

I once was offered the job of Anna Kournikova's escort during a promo visit but I said no because mum was cooking a lamb roast.
Felt like a real twit when I discovered mum had overcooked the bloody thing and forgot the baked veges.
Anna still hasn't spoken to me about it.

I let a '59 Bel-air slip through my fingers many, many years ago.
A bloke pissed off on another owing 70 pound, & left the car.
All this cocky wanted was his $140. (mind you, that was 3 weeks wages at the time) Not so much as a hubcap missing.
I sat on my hands & missed out. It's never happened again.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
