anyone got any pics or links of a cleaned up area under the dash of a kombi? must be some way of hiding all the hanging garden of babylon wires that
dangle down from behind the dash. Looks bleedin' awful. I did see a kombi for sale in the States that had boarded up the whole area.

I thought I had some photos for you, but unfortunately all the photos I have were taken after I put the central locking and alarm system in, so the
extra wires would just add confusion. :o

You will probable have to either fabricate something yourself, have someone else do it, Or sell your soul to the devil to find a decent set at a
wrecker.
That board under the littel shelf in the front is standard eq but everyone i have ever seen has been WAY !! wasted and all bent and stuffed.
Try either getting this MDF or if you can find it some plastic sheeting and creatign some yourself  ...... shouldnt be too hard

It's a lot easier if previous owners haven't added a lot of crap to the stock system. If they have, I've always found that most of it
doesn't work anyway. When in doubt, get your Bentley VW manual (with nice colour wiring diagram) and get your harness back to as stock condition
as possible. You can always rewire aftermarket accessories yourself, and properly this time.
You can get to the front if you remove the ashtray and ashtray housing - one screw and pull it out - and the radio blank plate. You can also unscrew
the instrument panel screws and pull the panel forward a little way to get access behind it. But watch for the four little clips falling down
somewhere behind the dash. You will have to rescue them for later when you bolt it back together.
Plastic wire ties are good - you can get packets of them at Dick Smith. They neaten things up nicely.

i gotta agree, a bloody nightmare. my bus has had a newignition (installed by me), new heater, fans, CD player, windscreen washer, plus the camping
gear in the back including fridge, lights, cigarette lighter (i melted copper trying to get that one to work!). the cables in my car have been cut,
attached and reatteched so many times that i believe the majority of the electrical system runs purely on luck. ]
when i installed the new ignition (before this the lock had been removed with a slide hammer and to start u used a screwdriver and jiggled the wires a
bit) the horn was stuuck on and none of the new equipment worked (CD etc.). jiggle the fusebox a little and Hey Presto i had sound an'
everything else again. i still havent worked out how to wire the spotlights tho.
as far as tidying up, work out where everything goes first, then fabricate your own. no other option.
