Various Kombi models...
G'day everyone, i'm only starting to learn about the kombi, well it's been a favourite of mine for a very long time, but never new much about model
types and styles etc. I've had a bit of a read around the various forums, so my apologies if this has been covered before. But what i'm wanting to
know is, could somebody run through the different models of kombi, the styles, shapes, window types (?), so at least i could then know what is being
spoken about when reading about and searching for a kombi. Panel? Bay window? Splitty? etc...etc...
thankyou in advance.

o.k.
here's a pictorial lesson.
this is why a "Barndoor" Kombi is called a Barndoor.
check out the size of that engine lid.
these were from 1950 to 1954.

Barny's also have no overhang over the front windscreens.

now, this is a splitty.
named so because of the split front windscreen.
a barny is also a splitty.

bay windows were made from 1968 onwards, and are so named for their big curved wrap around windscreen.
here's my old bay panel that I sold to 56ovaltine, and is now up for sale again.

"loafy" the panel is a 1971 model.
bay's were sometimes called bread loafs because if there shape.
note the low blinkers on loafy, and the high blinkers on my '73 bay.
