Kombi Accelerator Problem

:( Daisy had her first problem yesterday.
43C heat and all and maybe that had something to do with it.

To start with 82 kombi 2L auto.

My wife had picked up the kids and was on a hill at lights and they went green and she went to accelerate away. She says she pushed the pedal but no revs - car just idled ........ did it again and it stalled. Started straight up and she put it in first and it drove away.
This happened twice yesterday in the high heat.

I am confused that she pushed and no revs?
Could petrol evaporate and cause this? vapour lock?

When i got home i couldnt start her - lights on but no kick. Had a look under neath and either the starter solenoid wire was loose or off. Sort of put my hand up there to feel around and next thing is see the wire off.
Now by the way there were 2 wires there - not one.
I know bugs but auto kombis different thing.
Any idea what the second wire was?

Anyway pushed it back on an she fired right up and no problem on hill.
Daisy does have factory electronic distributor. C
Could this wire have something to do with that?

Barry

No idea but my beetle has 4 wires 1 Big one to the battery 2 to the starter relay and one to the regulater.Ive just finished making a wiring diagram for my engine compartment i think most people with old vws should too because after the 6 to 12 conversion and a starter relay and an electronic ignition added the std wiring diagram was almost useless anyway goodluck, samething happened to my beetle a few weeks ago,a wire on my solenoid came off it was still running but rough as guts and then when i poked around in the engine comp. i must have pulled it away from just touching lucky i just finished my diagram so i new where all the wires went so i found it eventually at 3.30am under a steet sign at dick smith at Strathfield.:o
