Registration for Left hand drive vehicles.
Anyone out there had any experience getting rego on a l/h drive vw. Rang the NSW RTA yesterday and they said as long as it is over 30 years old and
meets road requirments it should be fine. Ie no red blinkers on the back. They must be amber. Headlights must dip left etc. Apparently no stickers
needed in windows any more to say its left hand drive. Just go for your blue slip and bingo. No more converting to right hand drive. Anyone provide
any more info. Looks like I might have to seriously look at bringing some car back to Aust rather than the other way. Particularly Ghias. They are so
cheap in the USA.
All comments welcome. Positive and negative. I am sure there is much to consider.
Thanks Everybody.

Wouldnt actually mind a left hand drice vert(BUG), but by the time you bring it over, you might as well find an Australian built one!!

Yeah things have changed as far as LHD goes here in NSW. Bring a project over, restore and then sell back to the buggers still LHD at a crazy markup.
Kinda justice in a way.

No, Cabriolet Beetles were never made in Australia. VW Australia did bring in a couple of German made cabrios in the early 1960s to evaluate the
market, but unfortunately they showed them at the Melbourne Motor Show in the middle of winter! Interest was not great at the time. VW Australia never
tried importing cabrios again. Any you see on the road are private imports.
VW Australia DID make sunroof Beetles though ... perhaps that's what you're thinking of.
The less said about 'chop top' Beetles the better.
If I was going to import a US VW, it would be a 411 or 412 sedan - they're groovy.
