fuel injection

How good is the 2L Kombi (1976) factory fuel injection?
What would be the better option;
A. Existing fuel injection
B. Twin Dellortos
What are the tubes which go up the rear air intake vents for? Do they cool the fuel in the injection system? Are they necessary?

Graham reckons that the fuel injection system is too difficult to get parts for and that the dellortos would be a better solution. However the fuel injection is supposed to be more efficient.

yes thats right but if you add on an aftermarket programable putor that does fuel and ignition you can gain more power that way. It can be fitted to the stock systemwith maybe a throttle body change to a larger size as well.

Go the carbs and give me the FI :thumb

I suppose it's what your used to, most people with a good working FI motor swear by it, those with a bad FI and don't know how to fix it curse it.
Never diven and FI myself but , power/torque only marginally better but much smoother than original solex carbs.

Doesn't the factory fuel injection use a distributor to deal with the ignition? If this is the case you could just go for a basic fuel only ECU and leave the sparking duties to the distributor.

I can't comment on VW's but when we bought an EFI car the improved smoothness and throttle response was definately noted, as was improved cold running (ie car is much better from start up).

Cheers
Jeremy

What month 1976? ADR27a [carbon monoxide maximum 24.3 g/km], came in around July? (Imported cars or local or both, anyone know?) This may be worth considering as someone here mentioned a while back that emissions tests are likely to become part of pink slip inspections soon.
