Nitrious on an EJ20 TT ?
would this be a good idea to hurt an Italian exotic at the red lights? I have heard both good and bad things on using nitrious on subary boxers, maybe
this trhead will clear things up.

Most Italian exotics aren't renowned for the off the lights performance, they don't get going till they have hit 3K onthe tacho. After this it is
hold on. No nitrous or forced induction is usually required with the Italian car. Don't try to play with them in the mid to upper range, they will
hurt you.....Discalaimer of Alfa V6 driver who owns a bug too. Very different animals, use the Beetle for cruising.......Alfa for fanging.
ps...Yes, it is red. What other colour is there for an Alfa?

Further thoughts.......
Why is Nitrious needed on a dub?
Isn't a Turbocharged WRX motor putting out more than adequate power with 98OCt fuel for street racing applications.
Isn't the point of a Turbo "If it isn't fast enough, turn up the boost some more"?
real, not plastic! Chrome, chrome and more chrome.

I cannot comment yet about my cars performance given the gremlins, but if humpty's notch is doing high 12's with a stock donk and a Diablo does
12.9. Jak is short shifting and looking at the girls on the side of the road as he destroys new 5.7 commodores (with 1/2 throttle).
I do not think you would have time to push the button between changes....especially with the little goodies you seem to be gathering to put on the
motor...what ecu and turbo are you running?

Drag Bug ,
The problem is Adams car wasn't doing 11.8's in the 1930's......but then again you do live in Adelaide that could explain the time delay???
Well done Adam though...pat on the back.

I am happy for you.
It now means Sydney is now a happier place with one less tool who tends to keep posting in the wrong section.
and correct EJ20T's weren't around in the 1930's , but seeing as though your living in the past (and Adelaide) maybe you can speak to the
moderators about starting a "1930's Vintage Section" they can set the theme slogan with something like : Come compare apples with oranges and make
a complete dick of yourself and built 140hp reliable VW motors using 1930 technology ...all for under $5000.
Keep it coming..... your cracking me up.

Where did i state this???
All this bent up anger from someone who cant handle a simple slice of sarcasm.
I dont care who builds what in what.......I just dont understand the whole concept of Suby in vw.
Yeah,it might be cheap to buy the engine to start with but what about all the choping, mounting, adaption methods,wiring,rerouting,plumbing......
This time and effort = lots of dollars doesnt it?
So before you wanna get personal, have a think as to where i might actually be coming from first.
Never slammed you about your choice of state to live in,nor do i resort to name calling.

dragbug,
If you don't understand suby's in VW's , dont post or read this section of the forum and that should stop you having to post a simple slice of
sarcasm.
While we are on the sarcasm thing umm.....Adelaide.
Yes Suby engines are cheap to buy and there is a lot of work to get them in the car correctly which does equal money and time , but that's the idea
of customising cars. I dont want to start a cost debate of suby v's vw because I dont need to convince anyone but myself , unlike yourself.
I wouldn't consider what I said getting personal ,surely you wanted a reaction and seeing that tonight I have nothing better to do ,I thought I would
give you a reaction.
Your right though I didn't think about where you were coming from, but I think you should be going to another section of the forum.
Cheers
Paul.

Hey Dragbug,
Here's the subbie in a VW concept. Cheap, reliable, modern boxer engines. I have an EJ25 suby. It's 165hp and has buckets of torque.
Coz here's the thing, I really love aircooled engines, don't get me wrong. I looked into building a blown/EFI 2l type 4 for my buggy when I was
building it. The motor alone would have cost me $5000 plus and that was pre-blower and EFI. To fully set up the motor in the car would have been more
like $10k (conservatively). Also i doubt for that money it would be as powerful as the Suby. I couldn't justify that sort of money for an engine full
of 30year old parts and a 50 year old design, with no garantee of it's performance, and, as great as Type 4 motors are, I honestly don't think one
would have lasted as long as this Suby will. Even my old VW mechanic, an ace, race engine builder for 30years himself, said I was onto a good thing
with the Suby.
Now I tell ya, I had a 1641cc beetle that had an awesome motor and I miss that car every day, but my buggy is wicked. I know that's comparing chalk
with cheese but even still. The suby is sweet, and can be short shift all day or take off like a rocket any time. I am happy to take you for a drive
any time you are in Sydney and show you.
Now to be honest, the suby probably owes me $10 or 11k. Now you are also right when you say it took effort and time, but I am happy with my decision.
The freakin thing even tunes itself! can a VW boxer do that easily? No way! Every person who has ridden in the car is blown away by how, quiet, smooth
and powerful it is. I challenge you to find an owner of a non-turbo/blown 165hp aircooled VW motor who can say the same.
And, what's more, compared to the EJ20T, my car is a slow poke. :thumb
BTW, I am not have a go at you but, this is the non-VW engine part of the forum

Hi
I think Adam would be the 1st to admit that his car is on the edge and he probably spent more on just the turbo than 1303, boof and Jak have on their
whole conversion.
Subaru motors aren’t as reliable as some Jap motors so I don’t know if nitrous is good idea, more boost etc is a better way to go.

Does Adam's 11.8 bug get driven daily? if so could he look at putting 200,000 kms on it before a rebuild.
I sold my 2332 in bits...did the conversion and had $4000 in my pocket, sure it has taken some time...but it was no where near as hard as trying to
get Doddy to build my engine. It would still be up the back of the workshop in a box!
One day come for a drive in a wrx powered bug..... bring Adam too, and the next post we will get will be asking which bits of the firewall do WE cut
first, and what trail bike will I buy with the money I now have spare!
