1966 custom cal look beetle...
so here goes.
FORSALE... 1966 custom cal look beetle.
i am advertising on behalf of the current owner. i am still trying to sort getting this, but i am under instruction to move squidge first.
anyway...
this car i got back in 1996, and had a full ground up body off resto. all the body work was done by john hairy harris. features are as follows;
# rear original oval window graft including the louvers and the inside sheeting.
# 'w' bootlid fitted.
# guards widened 50mm to give a phatter profile. teh rears are original, the fronts fibreglass.
# front indicators shaved, instead has splitta style bullets located bottom edge at front.
# bumpers have been smoothed. all the bolts are welded to the inside.
# dechromed and holes welded.
# passenger mirror is an axact copy of the drivers. it is NOS and i got it from when i visited the wolfsberg museum in germany.
# smoothed dash with custom guage pod. fitted with classic vdo guages, including tacho, speedo, oil temp, oil pressure and fuel guage. also there is a
matching clock that goes with the car.
# has some funky bubble rear quarter windows fitted, but also comes with the original ( also tinted) glass.
mechanically;
# has an adjustable front beam built and installed by VVDS, and has discs brakes.
# the car is running a standard 1600tp motor. is good strong motor. but egypt (her name) cries out for the glory days of the big motor.
# exhaust is a custom job i had made up with twin outlets, one behind each rear wheel. sounds a treat and looks sweet.
# the gear box is a 1300 which was fully rebuilt. has nice quick 1,2,3 and then a highway 4th gear. is a great box.
# car is 12v and the current motor has an alternator.
# rims are 15x5.5 8 spoke alloys with 195/50 front and 205/60 rear.
interior;
# burgandy velour hoodlining.
# matching burgandy carpet.
# seat backs are burgandy vinyl with kirby fabric fronts.
# wood finish paneling and wood grain steering wheel.
# also has the rear oval venetian. kay took it out but it comes with teh car.
overall the car is in great shape. it has done 58000 miles, 52000 of those by me. it shows a little on some paint edges, but overall is a good car.
the price reflects 12months rego (ie till 2006), but as is the car runs out on 9 mar 2005. so if you buy before kay will drop $500 for you to rego,
maybe a bit more as she needs to sell. there is no reason that this baby would not pass rego inspection. on current papers all work is engineered
approved.
i spent in the vicinity of $30000. on egypt. so i know the car inside and out. if you have any questions please ask, if your serious i can put you on
to kay.
teh car is located on the central coast.
if youre considering a project, check this baby. cost is $6500and you will get a lot of car for that.
