Strange noises

I have just finally put the baja's engine back together to great happines and joy :) :bounce:bounce:bounce

I then had the carbie's retuned and in the process have found a bery confusing problem.

On the compression stroke (it appears to be on all 4 cyninders) there is a whooshing sound (kinda like ffffffffffft)
as though air/fuel mixture is leaking somewhere

I have been told that this is normally to od with the mating of the cylinders to the heads tho this problem is normally accompanied by a popping sound on accelleration. There is no popping sound.

If anyone has any ideas or novel solutions the would be appreciated otherwise i guess ill have to pull the engine again :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

:puke:repuke:puke

Do a compression test, may show up something.
Are you hearing this noise while it's running or stopped???
If you have just rebuilt, you may be hearing blowby until the rings bed in?

And yes, the usual problem is the head surfaces not aligned.

The noise is while it is running.

Can not hear it when at more rev's than idle but that could just be hidded under the exhaust.

Any idea what kind of $ a compression test will cost ? (or how much is the gear to do it myself ?)
