Rubber floor covering for a beetle
Is it possible to get rubber for a beetle floor covering. Thinking rubber instead of carpet.

I think you might have to cut it to size and shape yourself ive never heard of that being done.
What made you want to do that? Just curious.....

Beetle is going to daughter. If I put rubber on the floor then I can hose out the beetle when she makes it dirty. I plan to give the pan a really
good paint with some holes with plugs to let the water out.

Stenguns did his in 5mm grippy rubber.
See his thread as follows:
http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=34559
In there u'll see a post about cutting the stencils and cutting the rubber.
He is in Sydney, so his supplier may not help, unless they have an outlet near u, but hopefully it will give u ideas. try asking him direct too,
he's pretty nice with supplying info.
anyway, hope the info helps
cheers

hosing it out might not be a good idea if you want to keep rust at bay.
Like above try clark rubber, they have a ribbed rubber sheet that you can buy by the meter

Steff,
Mine was same. Rubber mats on bottom, carpet on heater channels and kick panels. (oh, and back sections.) But mine is a 72 super, so not sure if
that makes any difference.

I have all rubber in mine, no carpet even on heater panels. It must be standard for some models. |

ok it just so happens i had to have a look at a beetle today about doing the body work for them, and what did i find inside...... totaly covered in
rubber mats so they must be avalabile over here at some stage. the bug i looked at was a 72 model and they were in very good condition and nice and
thick still, not all worn out like my old one and i am guessin the same for ruckus...
some one must know where we can get a new repo set from..... try asking roy(classic vw) as he brings in from the uk and u could get them there
steff................................

Our 71 beetle has original rubber mats from 1971. We have put carpet all through and put the original rubber mats on top. We got a trimmer to do it in
plush carpet in the parcel shelf area too. No price to give as it was a special deal.

Man, thats such a good idea ey. I was gonna ask how much new carpet sets were, 'cuz mine are shabby and i have to tear more and more out everytime
it rains 'cuz poor Bertrude gets wet. Rubber would be a good DIY alternative.

most if not all beetles came with rubber floor mats as standard. if someone here doesn't have one start hunting the local wreckers, they aren't the
easiest to find in perfect nick but you should find an ok one without too much difficulty.
