bocker...it's best to ask the question on pricing B4 u purchase.

I learnt this the hard way too.

I get the problem worked out, get the quote, come here, ask for price or where I can purchase one...go there to get item...then take it back to mechanic.

But have I have also learnt those who deal with vws, and are listed on the forum, don't often overcharge (their reps can't take it I think)

but those who only deal with vws now and again (like local garage) over charge on everything....sometimes it's because they just don't want to work on it.

And B4 anyone goes jumping down my throat about bad publicity, I haven't come across anyone here on the forum doing it. AND I used to work in the auto industry and saw them doing it.....and they made no excuses abotu it either...they just hated working on VWS, so they purposely overcharged. Not my boss, but soem of his mates who worked around us (we worked in a set of factories) They used to brag about hwo much they made of u PPL.

My boss said it was a good lesson for me to learnt....fix my own car where I can, and shop around. Also, look for enthusists, not just specialists. And when going to mechanics, ask what they drive too.

He said if a mechanic owns a VW, he is less likely to rip u off if ur bringing him a VW. Same along the line for holdens and fords etc etc. he also said no matter how much u try to rid of the ripoff merchants, they will always be there, cooking up new schemes.

So I have applied this all my life, and as far as my car goes, only got caught twice. Not bad considering 6 cars, three were/are rebuilds.

But hey, I guess I must be due again soon.

Cheers
Donna
