I have one

I've done this conversion already to the back of my split. You need to weld a small plate into the rear of the later bumper, as bay bumpers mounted to the bumper iron itself, whilst splits mounted to a small flat plate mounted flat on the inside of the bumper.

I bought a brand new bumper back in the UK from vwheritage for $180. It came with bumper brackets and all. I cut it in half brought it back as luggage on the plane, and welded it up again on return to Australia.

I can sell you an old bay bumper but its had holes cut out so you can use the beetle exhaust in a splitty.

Cheers

Steve

Steve,

I thought the very ends of the bumpers were different?
ie the bay is pointed like an arrow and the splittie like a slash??
Not that this will make any difference to your mounting.

I performed the same operation as Matara on mine with a bay bumper. Looks right.
