How much difference will Twin Carbies make?

I have been offered a set of Standard twin Carbies which I am thinking of fitting on to a 1600 engine that is in a Kombie. I was wondering if anyine knows how much difference it will make to the horsepower if any, or what percentage power improvements I will notice???

Also are there any mods that need to be done ir is it a straight swop.

Basically ---- is it worth it?

Thanks

Dozza

Best thing I've done. Power is smoother and there seems to be more to reach for. Fuel delivery is greater and it revs more freely and faster. That's in a t1 but I assume it'd be the same?

In overall HP terms, not a lot at all, but as far as everyday driveability and running, a shitload of inprovement.

The fuel and air gets pretty much a straight shot down at the valves instead of having to travel along a long tube where the fuel can condense out of the airstream and associated spluttering and hesitating when cold occur.

Not to mention a whole host of other issues not worth mentioning now.

Fit your carbs, have them jetted and dynoed well and enjoy the difference!

ok. so i've got a 62 beetle with a 1200. its a bit sluggish of course, which i don't mind, and i've been thinking about upgrading engines, but the cost is quite a deterrent. do you think twin carbies would be a good option?

you would be very hard pressed to find a manafold to fit your 1200 i beleive. just buy a 1600 twin port u see them for sale on here pretty regularly for about 500 bucks.

Yeah ^ would be your best option, unless you can afford one of those old okrasa kits (I think they were made for 1200s?) then again you could remember that you're not a millionaire

Sorry mate...yeah back on topic.

I'm not sure. Are you getting the manifolds, linkages etc as well or can you use the existing ones?

would you need to rejet the carbs to suit your engine? the previous engine they were off may have had different breathing properties ie: different exhaust etc..
