digital tv (just having a vent)
when these bastards who control out lives dreamt up the digital TV idea it was supposed to be OK for old analogue(?) tv users, cos there would be both
digital and normal type transmission. If worst came to worst then you could buy a box for the tv. (I think I remember something about them picking the
wrong standard as well) Now I see all these ads saying to connect tv and video using AV sockets otherwise my reception will be stuffed. What if my TV
doesnt have AV sockets. I'm friggin stuffed!
my reception is bad enough now. Jerry is going to dissappear completely!

Yep, I have a digital set top box, and the only thing going for it is that the picture quality is stable, you get widescreen and the audio will be
pretty good come July when Channel 10 finish their works. Whoopdee doo.
Channel 7 wanted lots of low resolution 4:3 channels. The others wanted 1080i plus some additional low res channels. Kerry Stokes donates more than
almost everyone else, so basically he got what he wanted... sort of.
What the audiophiles and the white box people wanted, but didn't get, is 1080p. (progressive) which makes the screen resolution as good as
current LCD projector technology gets. This would be HDTV. That's not going to happen here, ever.
So basically people like me who buy these gadgets early who make it cheap enough for all you guys to buy are holding off paying ze big bucks on the
decent HDTV receivers as they're useless. Digital TV is thus well and truly stuffed. It'll be like AM stereo - way too little, far too
late.
Channel 10 do the best job on broadcasting high quality images and they broadcast the most widescreen, too. Channel 7 are the most pathetic, often
broadcasting things I know that are in 16:9 as 4:3. They should have these programs taken off them. I'll let you know how livid I am when Buffy
returns this coming Tuesday night.

Andrew,
Didn't realize you were a buffy fan.
I have episodes 1- 12 of season 7 on VCD if you would like to borrow them.

Fatboy,
What sort of quality are the VCDs? I've watched some pretty croaky VCDs in my time
I've got seasons 1-5 on DVD, waiting for Season 6 to come out. For about the first time ever, I managed to watch all of a season last year with
Season 6. I definitely need to find out what happens to Spike now that he has... oh wait, some people might not have seen it.
14yearold: absolutely.

Jay knows exactly the reason why I am such a huge Buffy fanboy. I have
most of her other movies too, with the exception of "My Stepmother is an alien". I watched that on cable a while ago and its truly woeful.

Hey nearly missed this one.
The video has been captured from a satalitte feed as it is broadcast in the US.
I have downloaded it and used the Nero encoder to convert it to a VCD.
The end result is certainly not DVD quality but WAY better than any cam type VCD you would have seen, about the same as a regular tv broadcast
here.
There is a catch though on some DVD players there are periods of pixelation that last ~5secs ( out of 12 episodes my player had this happen on about
2) but it goes away.
Currently downloading ep13. Each epsiode is 433meg you can get smaller versions but quality is a problem.

BTW adz Buffy just doesn't do it for me....now Willow ? .....oh yeah baby!
