That sounds rather exciting...hope it's worth a lot.

Have a look at this site:

http://www.watchgallery.com.au/

They are in Melbourne, rather close to you. If you browse the Rolex pages, some of the prices for vintage Oysters are breathtaking. Hard to imagine it worth less than $5000 and maybe much more!

When I pulled my Kombi apart, all I found was a few coins and some old peanuts under the seats. I did find an old kettle with a push-on whistle, which was rather cool. But nothing like a Rolex!

How about speakers from a sony component system.

I bought a brown oval a few years ago, it had a nice speaker shelf with no speakers in it yet there was sound coming from back there. I pulled the back seat down and found 2 quality Sony box speakers (like the ones that belong in lounge rooms) tucked tightly into the space. I've tested them and they sound good, I just have to put a component system together one day.

That was a good find, normally I just find rust. It doesn't beat the rolex though.

i suppose the watch is technically yours! hahaha! you bought the car and all the stuff that came with it (the history, the experience of air-cooled, the mood of the car, the rust - hopefully not!). it is not the same as finders keepers... you lucky dawg! the rolex actually pays for the car!!! when i bought mine, the previous owner ripped off all the carpets, took out all the seat covers, i was left with some spare 5 cents, a flat and rusty spare tire, misc screws, dust and a big hole in my wallet. :P maybe i should look more carefully... (i read somewhere to look behind the A pillar, someday i will...)

I bought a superbug for $50 and it had a very good brand of pliers in it. The pliers have been the best I have ever had, and I still use them. I also found two werid rat creatures living under the back seat.

All I ever found was a St Christoher medalion and a ticket to the 1970 Grand Final at the MCG. Pity it was 1995 when I found it.

All I've found was a ridiculously big tub(like 1 litre) of Vaseline. Not that I want to know what the 65+ year old previous owner was doing with that much Vaseline.

well... the playa was good, just bought a pair of 6x9 2way Explods off of an old lady at a market unused for $45 too. sounds unreal, no amp!:D

Cleaning out a 70 sqaureback, that i bought from a friend for $100...i found more than $200 in cash...change and notes, some really old moth eaten MAD magazines, a couple of old VW mags, and a snake skin that was nearly a metre long. The car paid for itself that one afternoon. Then i fixed it up to a driveable state and sold it for $1500. i was quite happy with that car.:thumb

Damn, all Dr L had was old paper clips, used AAA batteries and scrappy pieces of paper. The was a dried rose hanging from the ashtray and a couple of butts in the ashtray

Bel was just Bel, no hidden extras

A long-haired german shepherd.

You never actually said "in a VW you bought." I was hitch hiking one day when I was a lot younger, and a VW pulled up and the driver said "get in." I opened the door to see this huge dog occupying the entire floor space of the passenger side. The driver said "just put your legs over the top of him, he won't mind," and the dog lifted hid head and gave me this look, like "what is he thinking?" I got in.

On a more serious note, my Kombi only came with a quantity of illegal green material - but the buggy had a box of parts, including a brand-spanking set of dual-port heads with end-pieces! A real score back in those days. The type 3 had $10 and a stale beer, still pretty valuable to a struggling student.
