fitting a fuel tank into splitty..
I don't have a tank but how easy is it to find splitty tanks? Is it a better idea to use a bay tank? ..and do you have to put the tank in before the
engine? (looks like a squeeze). |

You can buy brand new tanks from George at classic veedub. I have a bay tank in mine all you need to do is use the bay tank straps and flex hose and
the end of the splitty neck and lid.

Interesting, will look those up, I have picked up a tank for my split, but may go the bay conversion for longer trips, what tank you got Dave?.....
Also.. While on the subject of tanks, some ppl have told me NOT to get it sand blasted as sand will get in the tank, no matter how well you mask it?
Any suggestions?.. what the best way to clean and respray the tank?

Mine originally didnt come with a fuel sender for the guage, as it didnt have one.
I fitted a later split tank with the fuel sender, no need to sand blast the tank, just paint strip it and was it out really well with petrol.
You can get tank sealer kits but I didnt need one.
Chance to post a pic, the tank is in there somewhere.
Cheers
Dave
