More questions
Having just spent the last half hour listening to Sooty tell me how wonderful all the cars are, and finally getting her Tomas online (check out the
member's rides) I have more questions...
1. Does everyone name their cars?
2. Are they predominantly male or female?
3. Do ***yours*** stall when you swear at them?
4. Do you have to accessorise your clothing to drive your car?
5. Does your car get to wear jewellery?
Still confused about the whole thing...
Mind you, this post has caused Sooty to retire in embarrassment so maybe confusion is a good way to go.

1- Yes
2 - for me it more neutral. Its nice, that bloody thing, start ya mongrel. You get the idea
3 - the swearing normally starts after the stall. And stops right after it goes again.
4 - Aaaahhh no. Ear plugs maybe.
5 - Of course, love those accessories.
Hope this helps. :thumb

1. Daughter named our Kombi "Vegamite" cause it's yellow and black (mostly)
2. Guess it's netral gender
3. When I stall I swear at myself and not the Bus cause it's usually me who has been the goose
4. Doesn't feel right wearing formal clothes or business attire when driving the Kombi! My sister in law gave me a cap for Xmas with "Kombi
King" on the front which I wear sometimes
5. Jewellery? How so, I'm lost on this one :o

Meet Daisy, very pretty dont you think. My wife sold here Falcon so she could come over to the dark side!
1. Does everyone name their cars? - Only cars with personality get to be named. So yes ALL kombis have names!
2. Are they predominantly male or female? - Well i hope this one is a girl cause "she" is called Daisy
3. Do ***yours*** stall when you swear at them? - They have been known to sulk
4. Do you have to accessorise your clothing to drive your car? - Yes, Lea my wife wears a matching yellow top most of the time.
5. Does your car get to wear jewellery? - Yes there is a collection of ducks sitting on top of the dash. We are still looking for a duck with a
bobbing head like the cat ones.

1. Does everyone name their cars?
I really hope so! How else can you bond? My kombi is "Sir Walter the Brave", usually just Walter though.
2. Are they predominantly male or female?
Not sure. Walter is definitely male, except when I'm working on him, and then the generic "her" comes into play.
3. Do ***yours*** stall when you swear at them?
Usually if Walter stalls, I start with begging "Please Walter, not now, no no no no no don't stall, don't stall... Oh You Bastard
Walter!!!"
But the stalling does come first. Some cold days, the begging or praise is used to start him.
4. Do you have to accessorise your clothing to drive your car?
When he's behaving well, no, but when he's going through a mechanically dodgy period, I find OLD clothes that you can afford to get greasy
are the best accessory.
5. Does your car get to wear jewellery?
He did have a small mirror ball for a bit, which I think he really liked!

1) Never have, never will.
2)All machines are female.
Anything that won't do what you want it to, no matter how well you treat it, must be female.
3) Since most of my vocabulary is somewhat colourful, I really don't know.
4) no, I only own levis, stubbies & singlets.
5)No kombi is complete without a peace sign hanging off the mirror.

1. I kind of do. They are all hell... something from my association with hellbug. I dont actually call them stuff at home only when talking about them
to other people. They need to know what I am talking about :P.
2. non sexual
3. only swear after it stalls. Usually i've turned the fuel pump off. It will start and reverse half way across the road before stalling
grrrr.
4. I only seem to buy t shirts at VW shows so doesnt leave me with much choice.
5. only a club vw sticker now hellbug is no longer trading.

1. Does everyone name their cars?
Maybe not - I do though
My car is Wolfgang. Usually shortened to Wolf... or Wolfie.
I named Grandpa's L Bug Colonel Mustard (you'd understand if you could see it).
2. Are they predominantly male or female?
I think guys usually have female cars and Girls usually have male cars... do the people here back that up...? (reads back up the thread).
3. Do ***yours*** stall when you swear at them?
Don't usually swear until AFTER it stalls.
More likely to give him encouraging pats and sweet talk him though
4. Do you have to accessorise your clothing to drive your car?
Nope, thats too complicated. I do have a collection of 60s dresses though that I like to wear occassionally
5. Does your car get to wear jewellery?
Nah, Wolf doesn't like jewellery.
Although... He wouldn't mind some driving lights I suspect

I have 1 female ride Bel, I see her eyebrows as lashes, so cute. Dr Livingston is my male ride, my work horse of a type 3 sqback (station wagon), very
earthy colours and feel to him. It's about how the car feels to you, or for me anyways. A female thing maybe?
Clothes to match the ride - hmmm, not sure but sometimes feel I might clash with Bel's blue or decide to get into the African jungle safari theme
with Dr L LOL
Jewellery - Dr L has a very ornate lucky Chinese charm type thing hanging from his rear view mirror (many small jade zodiac symbols/animals and the
chi symbol, all held together with several colours of knotted cord)
Bel had Christmas decorations of tinsel, Chinese lanterns and a couple of gold stars across the front windscreen:kiss
Don't swear at the cars. If they do stall, or I stall them, I can't take it out on them they are my trusty steads and loyal friends, both
too sweet to be angry at. They are old and need care and attention, I love them to death kiss |

Some good questions there! The answers say more about us than they do about our VWs, In my case:
1. No I've never given my VWs names. A good friend tried to name my red Beetle 'Lolly' but it just didn't suit. I think it's
more a female thing. I referred to my Beetle as 'the Volks' or 'the Veedub' but nothing more. The Kombi to me is just 'the
Kombi'. Some of my friends call it the 'Zombi Kombi'.
2. Male or female? Who knows. A bit of both maybe. When I don't understand something they do, they're probably female. But when I take girls
for runs in the Kombi, it behaves very well so it's probably a male (helping me)
3. I never swear at my Kombi, only at the other idiots on the road. And it never stalls! I do pat it on the dashboard every time it out-accelerates a
Hiace in traffic (many times, every day)
4. Fashion has never been one of my strong points...as all the women in my life will tell you. The great thing about driving a Kombi is that you can
wear whatever the hell you want.
5. If you define jewellery as mudflaps, towbar, chrome hubcaps and chrome headlight surrounds...then yes!

Well.....
1. Does everyone name their cars?
The type3 is called Kermit....
Realy had no choice.... Its green
2. Are they predominantly male or female?
Well to say the are all female would not be true... I do agree with Jay to a point...
only cause what we think of women and cars, (RE: Spooks post) The lady's may think the same!
3. Do ***yours*** stall when you swear at them?
The swearing starts when they stall in a cruise!:cussing:cussing
4. Do you have to accessorise your clothing to drive your car?
I dont just to drive my car..... I am proud to own a VW and i like to show it!
5. Does your car get to wear jewellery?
Jewellery? hmmmmmm
I do like to make the car look good..
And the Car Bra is there to stop the front bits from sagging....
Nothing worse than a frog with saggy bits!:P:P:P:P:P

Hmmm, makes me think there is a difference as well when buying a car?:alien
Do only women have to feel a connection with the car (personality, a feel about it, it's history/life), not just performance etc?
Guess not all women feel this way either, maybe only me?:alien
Hmmm, double alien
