New dellortos on old beetle
The project is a mile behind after my mate (cough..cough) had the car for two years to paint it, but it came back stripped with half in primer.
Oh well, live and learn.
These are the goodies for my motor.

You don't need a radios when you got Dells! I've got a nice Pioneer system that I hardly turn on.
They are a PITA when pump jets get blocked though!

I've still to solve an ignition problem before firing the old girl up again. It used to have twin 36dcnf webers, so the 45 dellortos should be quite
different. I have brought the venturis back down to a size the 1640 can cope with though.
The good thing is that the same carbs will more than cope with the 2110 when it gets to be built.
Air-cooled... it's a disease.. nothing logical, but that's the point!!!

$1200 including rotary vane electric fuel pump, malpassi fuel pressure regulator, and K&N style air filters and outerwear pre-filters,.. even an
instruction manual.
I thought the price was okay. Absolutely brand new, the guy who had them brought them back from the states 3 years ago, and they sat in his wardrobe
up till now.

I can't decide how to connect the breather yet. It used to go into the base of the old carbs, but I don't want to hack these. Any other way you can
connect them?
I haven't even connected the fuel tank up at the moment, as I have to braise on a return for the electric pump.
I was just too excited about trying to fire the old girl up.
If you look you'll notice I have about two metres extra fuel hose currently (goes over bottom apron, and up into the rear parcel shelf where the
mower tin is!!!:P

I think people put them up the top through where the left-hand butterfly nut tightens with an adaption (on the right carb). The reason I ask is
'cause my mechanic just left mine off and I'm VERY nervous about it. Want to get it sorted asap even if i just put a little filter on it. |
