Deep Cycle "expensive" batteries??
One of a Kind for sure....
All Auto electricians should drive an electric car.....
Even Porsche made some in His younger days....

Hats off the this car- and the modifyer!!!!
Someone with an environmental ethic and likely a VW enthusiast has put a lot of effort into converting this fastback and i think its farken great!!
Would make an ideal daily driver/comuter - speed just doesnt come into it! The cost of batteries are more reasonable than you think, and would pay for
themselves over and over again!!

I wonder how much weight could be stripped from this fastback to improve the life of the batteries, and drivability!
I rekon it would be great stripped of all body crap, bumpers etc, matt black paint, a set of alloy cooky cutters, lowered, tinted and looking fat!!
The current sad appearance doesnt do it justice... |

this thing drives well, seen it take off, spins the wheel no problems, you could pull it out off this fasty and stick the gear in a early beetle, much
lighter...give paul a ring about it

Yeah, swap the doors for laters and stuff since they're much lighter. Perspex windows, modern sound deadening (not that you'd need it other than
around the wheel arches and floor).
Shame I do over 100K's a day and have two projects on the go, this would be fantastic. Always wanted an electric car:thumb

I hate to rain on your parade.
If that electric Type 3 is charged up by plugging it into the mains via a charger, then it is not environmentally sound as IT RUNS ON COAL.
It would have to be recharged by wind or solar to begin to be environmentally sound.
As it is, IT RUNS ON COAL, coal is about the dirtiest way to generate electricity and that SUCKS MAJOR.
Recently one of our state governments (NSW?) has bought a whole lot of so called green cars that plug into the grid to be recharged. They are
therefore not green as THEY RUN ON COAL.
