Baja Headlights ??
Hii,need to find out what year headlights are the best to use for a baja,bought some of ebay(one got broken in the post,cry) but they dont have a
bucket to mount into the mudgaurd looks like they mount like 6 volt jobs,is there a specific year that has the bucket ??Some help on this one would be
great its driving me CRAAAAZY haha.

Its an after market thing, all beetles had the headlight bowl as part of the guard.

Not sure about new, but check out the swap meets, I bought a pair with sealed beam headlights for $5 the pair, all in good order.

If you really want to do it properly, don't mount the lights on the guards... Baja guards are weak and are prone to cracking with the added weight of
lights mounted on them..
They also have a problem that the flexing of the guard causes a jittering effect with your lights at night and this also shortens the life of your
globes...
I have taken some pics of my headlights ( and tail lights ) to give you an idea of a better way to do it.. My lights used to be mounted on the guards,
but the on going cost of repairs and replacing got boring...
My bar work runs through the guards and this provides an ideal mounting location for headlights, but if you don't have bar work in the right place
for this, you can still mount lights on the panel behind the original headlight opening..
I have used buggy lights which can be bought from most VW parts stores and from off road or auto parts stores.. They have a sealed rubber housing, are
water proof and are fairly cheap too...
Since putting them in, I have NEVER had another problem with headlights...
Front view, they sit inside the normal headlight location and look pretty good...

From the inside, pardon the daggy paint work... You can see the braket attached to the bar work, but if that bar wasn't there, a simple bracket could
be fabricated off the side panel of the car...
And the rears, which are even More prone to cracking of guards, due to the curve and lack of support for the back edge of the guard..
Similar story, water proof tail lights mounted on the bar work..
Once again a simple fabriaction needed, but they're up high, out of harms way and again, I have NEVER had a problem with these..
Being new, they are bigger and brighter than early beetle tail lights, which helps keep the law off your back...
I've actually used the tail light mounting bolts to hold the mudflap brakets too, so it's win/win on the back end...
If you need part numbers for the lights or adivce on doing it, I'm happy to help out...

My Son took the plastic buckets from behind an old landrover
s headlamps.... to use on the Baja...
those rubber mounted headlamps were used on agricultural tractors - Chamberlain used them as work lamps on 3380-4080-4280 & 4480 tractors which were
made in Australia..
The lamps were made by Hella in Australia...
I used a couple on a type 3 variant many years ago with
sealed beam spot lamps mounted in them....
