A buggy has a soft top, to how can I keep cheap ass burglers from jumping in?
I want a buggy, however, i want to make sure that I have every aspect sorted out.
One major one is security.
Being a convertible with a soft top, I worry that stupid 1d1ots will jump in, deface the interior (vandalise) and possibly steal the tacho, speakers,
CD-Player or even the seats!!!

So how can I get security so I don't have to pay hundreds/thousands replacing stolen or damaged equipment every weekend.

Just leave a dirty bandaid on the passenger seat and a syringe (make it look dirty and used) on the drivers seat. No more problems....:duh

Leave a Doberman in the Passenger seat....normally keeps things intact.
Seriously though, when I owned a Moke the best thing to do was to remove the Dizzy Rotor, put it in your poocket and the car would always be were you
left it. There were even a few lock up panels for special items in the sides of the car. Never had a radio, just a tranny radio attached by rubber
bands to the roof support. It worked great. I actually use an mp3 player now with the FM radio in my Beetle. Don't need no radio in the car this way.

Portable MP3 player is the way to go!! Hidden Kill switches, rotor removal.
But nothing will stop the determined thief.
My favorite is a machine gun tower at each corner....

You could get a GPS computer fitted with an ignition kill switch on one of the outputs.
So when those idiots steal the car you call the monitoring company ask where your car is and tell them to turn it off. Then you go and pick your car
up with the local police.
( GPS will put you with in 20m off your car i think the cost is about $1000)

i think he is more worried about items being stolen from the parked car than the car being stolen its easy to take the rotor button out to fix
that.
i guess its a matter of keeping things simple in the buggy. set your guages in your dash where its not east to nick them and have a detachable face on
your stereo or dont have a stereo and dont leave anything of value in your car. u could get an alarm but that wont really stop them.
if you want more security forget about your buggy and get a baja.

Just leave a notice on the dash saying "Please steal me! " They'll
either be too confused or worried as to what would happen next.... but on the other hand they might just nick it:duh Just double it up as a kennel
and leave the biggest dog dish you can find in the back.

a tin ammo box from the army surplus store bolted in the back with a padlock on it to keep your stuff in. Other than that an alarm with proximity
sensors and immobiliser is the best you can do.

the worth of your buggy...
Hey my buggy is in sydney and well if you think about it what theif will steal a car so conspicuous and worth so little as parts..
Joy riders will be the only takers..
No rotor no start up, even less will discourage a joy rider..
And well if it can be seen it can be stolen, Hey they should make that into a Slogan

These are all good ideas, (And funny, I wonder what I would name that new pet croc, perhaps Snappy or BigTooth)
Anyways, thanks for the advice. Once I put on all the security features, those features would probably be worth more than the car itself, but at least
it won't get stolen.

I guess the answering question to your question would be "what do you want a buggy for?" If like most of us its cause they are the best offroader
out there simply on fit what you need for your car to operate effectively- eg no stezza, only gauges you need (and not top shelf items) and seats that
dont hurt ya bum! On the other hand you might want a buggy for cruising the strip- then you've got a whole diff outlook... and you need a really good
alarm and good parking sense. In other words dont give em anything to steal:thumb
