Twin Carby Timing

Got the carby's on and working ..... sort of!! Gonna have a good chance to look at it all tomorrow and was wondering a few things.

They seem to be backfiring a little at idle which i'm assuming means they are overfueling. So i should adjust the idle mixture screw? But which way leans out the barrel (clockwise or anti??)

What timing angles are people using???? It's for a 1600tp (AS engine # therefore year is 1973-74) with a straight centrifugal distributor with twin weber 40IDF's.

Now i should also come clean and tell everyone that they are jetted for a 1776cc not my 1600cc engine..... sorry.:kiss but i just wanted to give them a try and see if they would work. Will this make it impossible to tune them etc?? Surely i'm not the only one who's tried this??? (i'm just too keen to get them on!! hehehe)

Hopefully there's someone out there who has come across this problem before!!!????

First of all - read here

http://www.aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/jetting.htm

and here

http://www.aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/dualcarb.htm

and

http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/idf_adjustment_controls.htm

If it is a 1600 then "my" opinion is
F11 Emulsions
32 vents
4.1 x vents = 130 - 135 mains
add 60 = 180-200 ish airs

Futue te ipsum!!!
