starter stuck on

i have been having major issues with my L bug this week. last week i had a miss and was testing to make sure the new leads i put on were ok and the starter got stuck turning over. i could turn the key off and it would still keep on turning hte engine over. the switch at the base of the colum was playing up and about to die so i replaced this.

i tunred it on to start the car and it still keeps the starter going. if i unplug the ignition leads from the base of the steering colum, it still keeps going, the only way to stop it is by taking a terminal of the battery!!!

any ideas? on a what it could be? wht shuld i check? and how to fix it?

cheers

Yep, my old SuperBug had that same issue when I had it about 15 years ago.

I carried a small hammer, just a couple of light taps should do it......
