Alternator and regulator help needed

My alternator is pushing too much power to the battery and cooking it, it makes over 18 volts.
I replaced the regulator and it is still happening.
If I remove the plug on the top of the alternator so I delete the regulator I get 14 volts at the battery,
Also if I take off the DF lead from the alternator I get 14 volts.

Can anyone help.
To me it looks like the regulator is gone again?????

I am using a RE 57 regulator

Cheers
Dave

Its alright.
I admit, I am a dickhead.
I had the DF and the D+ wires on the wrong way round.
I might keep the bus now it works??

Cheers
Dave
