WHAT DOES A LIFT KIT ACTUALLY DO?

From what i have seen from companies selling these, it looks as though a lift kit lifts the body off the ground, rather then increase the ground clearance between the floorpan and the ground.

This this correct? i mean, why would you want to lift your body in the 1st place. Cause the floorpan will still be the same height. (I THINK I HAVE THE IDEA OF A LIFT KIT WRONG)

So please, oh PLEASE correct me. [NOTE: I deliberately used capitals to get attention]

Hi,
Lift kits squeeze between the body and floorpan, so you're right, they don't give more ground clearance, BUT, they do allow more room under the guards for larger tyres for those cars without much suspension lift. On a manx etc they also do double duty as stiffeners to prevent flex in the floorpan and body.
Cheers,
Neil

lift kits lift the body higher for larger wheels and modifyed suspension etc to gain more travel.

then u get suspension lift which lifts the pan up.
