Kombi clunking
My Bay Kombi makes a fairly soft (but loud enough to hear clearly) clunking/clonking noise in the front end when driving. At first I thought it was a
flogged out rubber on the bottom of the shock, but that was OK. Also it doesn't seem to be necessarily related or associated with hitting a bump on
the road- it seems to clunk for no good reason. I have had a look around underneath and there is nothing obviously loose or badly worn.
But the really weird thing is that it only does it for the first few miles in the morning. After that it goes away. At first I thought it was my
imagination, and that it stays there all the time but the mind ignores it. But Jenny drove it up to Canowindra last weekend for the balloon fest and
she noticed it too and agrees that it goes away.
My old Twin Cab ute used to do it too. Anybody else suffering from phantom and erratic clunks/clonks ? Any ideas ???

See if you can find out more specifically when it happens, and are you sure it's from the front end?
Some possibilities are a:
Steering ball joint warn out, you should be able to hear this cluck steering left to right, even when stationary.
Warn suspension ball joint, bit harder to diagnose, you will need to jack the front up and look for movement in the joint itself.
Wheel bearings warn, try rocking the wheel left to right holding the top of the wheel and see if it clunks.
Other remote possibilities, steering box warn, callipers or pads loose.
