Hello from Perth!!
Hi there,
I'm a Pom who has emigrated to Australia with my Aussie girlfriend (of 4 years), and have been living in Scarborough, Perth for the last 6 months.
I recently bought my second Beetle, a 1967 1300 deluxe - it's quite interesting to learn about the differences between Aussie bugs and EU/US bugs.
Anyway - I have spent a few $$$ on patching up a few rust spots, new brakes, rims and running gear, lowered (with adjustable front beam) and have had
a recon 1600 twin-port engine installed and a new exhuast. Here are a few pics:
Next year I hope to strip the car back to bare metal, fix any rust problems found and have the car re-sprayed inside and out.

Welcome to Australia. Gidday. heres a cold one, get used to it, us Aussies luv em :beer.
And that beetle, WOW! U luckly mate, thats quite a nice machine u got there.
Im not too familiar with the European and US beetles, whats the major differences? Is it just the names? I know some of the old ones have differences,
like different voltages with the batteries and collapsible steering columns etc.:P

Cheers!! Us poms love the beer to - so I should get by quite well!
It looks a lot better from a distance than it does up close. Also the interior is a bit shabby - but like I said, next year I will hopefully have the
money to do a full body resto and paint job - that's all that needs doing now.
The beetle models/years are different over here to in UK. For instance a '67 model beetle in UK has the bigger windows, different decklid and 12volt.
I didn't even realise VW made Beetles in Australia until I bought mine!

G'day guys, same here another newbie, a good site you have here, heaps of info thats helped towards my new project.
I've had my car for about 6 years and constantly adding to it,( you know how it is), I'm sure most of you guys from perth that have been around a

Would have absolutely loved to but my car isnt on the road at the moment, so would be kinda wierd rocking up in the laser? 
Only live in Roleystone, the meeting point was at Carousel too, so pretty convenient! Hopefully my car will be ready by christmas!
Would have been more than happy to of been a passenger in someone elses car just to experience it hey!

Hopefully by Christmas! (*crosses fingers*) She's been fully stripped down, i have bought aero guards from Vintage Vee Dub Supplies in Sydney for
her, fibreglass rear bumper and side skirts from Fibre Fab and a custom bumper made by Australian Volkswagen Performance Centre in Victoria. Painting
her candy apple pink with all new interior and roof!
