Actualy the rules are wrong...

When advertising a used car for sale:
It is required in ALL Australian states and territories
at least Rego for registered and at least VIN for unregistered complete cars.

But no one here seems to enforce...

In QLD you need to display a safety inspection certificate if the vehicle is registered and for sale. Will someone just buy this.......sounds good:kiss

Read the trading post lately? Haven't seen a vin number or rego number in registered publication.

Some pics and car is unregistered.

That's a bit of a harsh reply to someone who is trying to assist you in keeping your post active.

Also, the rules are for all of AVD, not just a particular state.

Can you please add the VIN to your post, else the thread will be pulled.

Thanks.

Ok, this probably isn't the right place to air this but......

I've just had a quick scan through most of the recent "buying selling swapping cars" threads and bugger all of them have a rego number or VIN posted.

If you are going to force the rules on this car how about all the others?

So since the car is unregistered and I post the VIN number in a public forum where any body with an internet connection can see it, they could use this number to put in there stolen vehicle and register it. I am not real keen on putting in a public place but will have to keep the powers to be happy. When the new owner goes to register this vehicle and their is a vehicle with this number already registered I am the one who has to prove that the other one is wrong.

Maybe you could just make people supply the number in a U2U so that you have proof of who gets the number rather than just anyone.

Can't get to the vin number at the moment as I have to remove the rear seats to get it. Will do it after work today.

Sorry didn't make the post exactly clear what I meant. This would be a clean chassis number. so it would not come up as a stolen vehicle when registered.

E.G.
Billy the crook takes this number and puts it in his car he stole. Goes down the pub, vw show etc etc and sells "his" car with my number in it. Sally gets her new car registered and the number passes ( no alerts registered) and drives it happily for a year. New owner of my car finished restoration, gets the car registered and then it all hits the fan. Then I am called a crook and cheater for selling a car that was perfectly legal. Then I have to prove that my number is the right one.

Moderators/Admin, Maybe you could split this thread to allow more discussion on it.

Put your thoughts on the VIN into another post, and we'll get some discussion on it.

car does have small amounts of paint bubble but i think most of it is where they have bogged all the guards on to the body and the side skirts to the body
it would be easy for you to get the car to sydney
never know maybe i could even deliver it for a fee (maybe)

JUST to confirm AVD does not require a Vin number or rego number or any other specifics of the vehicle. We do require contact details but that is for the person .

Would that be dangerous for that bug to have a hot radiator next to the fuel tank? (im not saying it is, i was just wondering)
