Cost of replacing King Pins.
Hi Folks
I have to do both front king pins, whats would be the rough cost of getting these done at a workshop. I also have a 58 front end drum to drum,
apparently it had only done 50.000 miles, will this fit the 56 Oval. If the King Pins are not going to be more than a couple of hundred Ill just get
the one in the car done.

You can buy complete rebuilt (king and link bushes/pins) spindles from custom off road for $220 I think. I got a pair they are well done.
Otherwise King pin rebuild kits are only about $40 I think so if you can find someone to ream the bushes to fit the new pin you should be able to do
it on the cheap.
The thing is tho the link pin bushes have to be removed to fit new king pin bushes/pins.
Chances are tho if the king pins are gone the link pins will be too??
You can do the link pin bushes yourself if you want I did mine with a vice and a couple of sockets..
Personally I'd prob just chuck the 58 beam on unless you want it orig.

Link to quick how to on rebuilding king pins below....
I fairly sure new pins and bushes are readily available for
beetle meaning old pins don't have to be machined........
Quite a few 'rebuilders' just rebush quite badly worn and/or pitted
kingpins - I'm not a fan - they don't last long (but then
I guess lotsa people don't do lotsa miles on their cars either
and they hold up for quite a while...)
