Bloody mudflap brackets!

I've got some Empi mudflaps that I want to fit to my 71 standard bug. They didn't come with brackets but I thought "Ah she'll be right, they'll be easy to find!"

Wrong! This is really starting to sh#t me because I don't have the time to fabricate them myself and I thought I'd solved the problem when I bought some brackets from someone only to find they don't even appear to fit the mudflaps I had to buy them with to get them !

Anyway so what can I do? Is it possible to just buy the right brackets from a shop or something?

Hi Ruckus

I bought the NOS Mud flaps too......
Brackets were too expensive.....

Go to a BIG W store.... or K Mart Maybe etc....

in the Door knobs & hooks etc You will find some 90 degree
Cadmium plated brackets.... just flat steel, but nice & shiney,
there are different sizes... the size I used....

was : 25mm wide approx 3mm thick and each side roughly 255mm long ... bracket is shaped like an "L"

I used a piece of thin aluminium to bolt to the bracket and to bolt to the mud flaps....

Any more info..... just ask....

Lee

MUD FLAPS YES*****

the piece of sheet metal is 6 inches high and 7 inches wide...

and My flaps are 4 inches from the ground... at the moment...
the car should settle down another inch or so...[i'm hoping]

the smalls screws attaching the mud flaps to the metal were
about 5 or 6mm x 20mm long with a flat washer either side and a spring washer under the nuts....

cheers

LEE
