I think i saw this one a few montsh ago. it was a new beetle with a freshly painted 60's beetle shell (both a similar blue) on a trailer going
through tennyson towards sherwood.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!

tow set up looked like front wheels were up, rears on ground, and simple frame under rear guard of new beetle - i didnt get a good look! I think they
were the two cars on the Klubfest pics thread (first pic) |

Yes we brought her home from the paint shop on a trailer with a special mobile frame under her so we could mover her around in the garage. Works
really well. I also got a gantry made up so I can lift the body off and on the pan by myself.
The tow bar actually attaches to the front torsion beam and the towed car just follows wherever I go. It is great. We were taking her to Phoenix
engineering this morning to try and sort out an electrical problem that I can track down. She is still there unfortunately. These are the 2 cars
from the Klubfest show on the weekend though.
I will post some pics for you on Sunday.

On the trailer when we got home. This is on the frame I had built so I didn't need to tie her down on the new paint. There are bolts that go through
the frame and go in to where the pan bolts go. I put wheels on the frame when it is off the trailer so I can move the body around by meself to work
on her. It is a good height too.

A closer look at the tow bar.
It is weird when you go around a corner and see the steering wheel in the car behind you turning with nobody inside the car.

It tows great, We have done it probably 8 times now taking het to get different things done before she was finished etc. Really smooth. It draws a
lot of attention though when they are together.
The colour the classic bug is now was similar to the paint colour that was under her bonnet. Looks much better I think. By looking at the two being
almost the same colour, you would think we would have a thing for Blue but it just worked out that way. Only ever had 1 other blue car.

Cool way to tow a car. How does the tow frame attach to the beam? A photo of how it attaches would be great as I'd love to do up a rig like this to
tow my buggy.
Thanks

It is a really simple little bracket that fits underneath the lower torsion bar. You then slide a pin through the holes in the bracket to go over the
top of the lower torsion bar and put in a clip to hold the pin in. I will try and post a picture tomorrow for you.
Yogie.
Only thing is by the way, here in Qld, the car has to be under 750kg that is being towed, it must meet the towbar download requirements and you would
need to have the lights working (I made a board with trailer lights to attach to the back with a long trailer plug lead that goes in to the back of
the towing car)

This is a close up of where it mounts to the torsion beam. I have to say though that it only cost US$49.95 plus shipping from CIP1 so it is pretty
cheao to buy. Saved me heaps on towing costs or trailer rentals.

That is a great idea. So when i get my 1st car, just tow it home in my dad's commodore without hiring or anything. Very nice. Be good if there were
suppliers in australia.

Yogie,
Thanks for those photos, much appreciated.
Chris,
The car needs to be registered to legally tow it using an A-Frame. If the vehicle is unregistered you will need a car trailer.
