TYPE 3 - Factory Specs : Track, Wheel Width etc.

Hi,

I'm looking for the specs on late (IRS) Type 3's.

I'd like to know the Track for both Front and Rear, and the Widest manufacturers optional tyres.

I have a type 3 I am looking at putting some after-market wheels/tyres on. According to QLD Mod rules I can only change the track by 26 mm and tyres can only be 1.3 times the width of the manufaturers widest tyre.

So I need to know the stock track, and widest optional tyres.

For completeness, if you have the specs for both early and late Type 3's feel free to post all info.

Thanks

Quote:
From QLD Transport Mods Booklet:
The maximum tyre width for a car or car derivative must
not be more than 1.3 times the vehicle manufacturer’s
widest optional tyre.

Quote:
From QLD Transport Mods Booklet:
The wheel track must not be reduced to less than the
standard track specified by the vehicle manufacturer
for the particular model of vehicle.
The track of a car or car derivative may be increased
by up to 26mm beyond the maximum specified by
the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of
vehicle.

Front track=51.6" (1310mm)
Rear track=53" (1346.2mm) or 53.14" (1349.8mm) for TL models

Production tyres were 6.00-15L4PR cross plys. The only tyre option listed is a 165SR15 radial ply. Therefore the widest you can legally go is 214.5mm. One of my fastys has 205s on the back, and they look pretty fat IMHO. I don't think you could fit much fatter without scraping the whels arches.

Wheels are a 4.5J x 15 wheel with 46mm offset.

This is from the Bentley manual for 68-73, Grgory for 63-73 and a 72 Owner's Manual. There are no different figures quoted for earlier models except for the minute difference in rear track width for TL models.

Hi

I thought Qld used the same rules as NSW, pre 73 it goes on the final weight of the car
Up to 800kg 153mm (6 inches)
801 - 1000 kg 178mm (7 inches)
1001 - 1200 kg 204mm (8 inches)
1201 - 1400 kg 229mm (9 inches)
1401 & over kg 254mm (10 inches)

After 73 it gets tougher.
