My '72 fastback

Hey there, I have just joined the VW family with my little green fastback, this is the condition I got my car in, its out of rego by about 4 months so its off to the doctor for a quick check up then I'll start looking at getting that paint back to the right colour and perhaps some work on the interior.

I would get it a metallic blue! noice :thumb

A metallic green would look cool to. Expensive paint though. But all good:D

But then u would have to get nice mags to suit. And later, bagg it. But thats another set of expensive investments, but makes it look supa awesome i rekon.

Green like this:

Something like this perhaps.

Flick the switches for the airbag suspension to go back up and drive off at legal height, and later when u park, flick the switch again and go low, (really low).:D Oh, and u would have to get the front beam shortened, so when u turn the front wheels at that height the wheels dont rub and skid on the fenders/body work. (Cause some pretty nasty damage and wear I would imagine). Oh, and it would cost abit for that disk brake conversion on the front and rear.

I think I may have got a bit carried away when mentioning all the things you could do to it after u mentioned about painting. Oh well, just giveing you some ideas and food for thought.

Quick update; My fastback needed MAJOR work on the engine, like a whole rebuild, but it should be back on the road in the coming weeks, I'll send in a pic or two when I get her back.

get it upped to at least a 1640 while he's there then, and a basic 1916 would the best. The only real extra cost would be in the cam, pistons/barrels and a little bit of machining. WHo's rebuilding it?

another update......

Engine running,....no make that purring now, I smile everytime I turn the key and she fires to life. At present still undecided about colour, will make a firm choice after I source a couple of quotes and see how much money I have. I will be placing some orders for some new door trims and seats as soon as i decide on my colour as well. Then a nice set of wheels and tyres and well thats it, I will be able to spend more time trying toi get days off to go to VW meets and driving my car.

More pics coming soon.........

She looks good the way she is. Just get her lowered a few notches front and rear, a set of retro style rims, 135/195 tyres, and cruise her! Keep the bucks saved on airbags for "accessories". Mwahahaha.:thumb

tempting, VERY tempting, as I would love to improve the handling a tad.... I will keep you posted as to what I decide, I will need to get the paint done as there is a bit of "flaking" on the passenger door and rear.

Hi everyone,

Well what a difference a new set of tyres and a wheel alignment makes, now instead of wobbling all over the road my fasty goes straight.

I am moving to the north west hunter so if there are any dubbers down that way drop me a line.

And now the saving will start for new seals and a paint job.

ey,

once you're done with a fresh paint job.. a nice set of wheels and slight readjustment of your suspension will do the trick.

Keep it the green, I love the old colours. Leave the new colours to the new cars.
Just dump it and put on a set of 16's and drive it. Its amazing how many people stop me about my 65.
Go for the original look,
