Looking at rebuilding my Type 3

Hey

Just throwing around some ideas at the moment but this was what I was thinking!!!!!

Some people have read some of previous post but here they are all together.

Thinking of repainting the car!!! Not tooo sure whether to keep the colour original or go for a brighter yellow/ metallic yellow.
Also just refreshing some of the components with original stuff.
Getting a bored out motor, from before it looks like a 2.3 ltr motor in the type 3 box and also getting my stuffed box rebuilt and getting a 5 speed conversion done. I think 3500 rpm is too much on the M5!!!!

I have been toying with the idea of having the rear windows converted so they can wind down??? don't know if any one else has done it!!! But it would be an interesting idea.

I would like to get new/better seats all around. currently I have managed to install KB Ford laser front seats into the car but keep on breaking!!! so maybe create my own slides and put better seats. but not too sure about the rear set yet!! Maybe get new door panels and panels for the rear.
And possibly new VDO guages. It gets quite hard to see black stickers on a guage with a black background at night!!!

I am also thinking about getting mag wheels for it but haven't decided yet.

Anyway here are a few pics of the car in its current state

Sweet as is mate! perhaps a set of mags...

Dont know about all the other stuff though....

Regarding the seats, you could get the t3 original high backs re-stuffed and buy new covers for the cost and time u might be talking.

Nice later fasty though.

Check the ratios before you hand over the bucks for the 5 speed. Almost always 4th becomes 5th cause it is already overdriven. The extra cog usually just closes up the ratios before top.

The big thing to think about with wind down rear windows is where to wind them down into?

The back wheel arch is below the back section of the window!

Hey

From the pics it looks clean but the previous owner had it partially resprayed. some panels are a slightly different shade to others and also the paint is starting to peel off in places. The bonnet is the strangest, where the middle ridge is, one side is a slightly different shade to the other side???
If you look at the first pic you can just notice it and also the last pic, i only noticed it the other day, the lid is a different shade to the body!!

Just wondering if i could get pop-out windows in the back then. trouble is can you find rubbers for them??

Dump it into the weeds.

I have same model, same colour almost. Makes it look 100 times better. Rides like a go cart but turns heads. Ill try and post pics soon.

I actually have a problem with lowering, I have actually put coil over shocks on the back because the new exhaust system I have always scrapes. I also have a variation on the wheels on the car, fronts I have 165x15x5.5 and rears I have 195x15x6, and just with that setup the car drives like a go cart!!
