57Kombi, MUST SELL ( with even more pictures)
O.K no messing about this time
This is for real.
The kombi has to go, it is in this months Just Cars Magazine as I need the cash.
I tried to juggle some finances around so that I could keep it, but cant manage it as we are having a baby in 7 weeks and need the cash so the missus
can have some time off.
I AM selling .
It is advertised at offers around $25K, But if you are interested u2u me I am going to be VERY flexible.
You have all seen the pics and you know what went into the rebuild, I spent over $20K in parts, panels, chroming, suspension, paint ect and that
doesnt include 4 years labour so someone is going to get a bargain.
I would like to see it go interstate so I wont see it but whoever makes the best offer gets it.
I have had offers from overseas but it is too much trouble trying to sort out shippers and transfers, All I want to do is hand over the keys and wave
it goodbye
I am not sure about putting it on E-Bay yet, I will have to see if there are any offers?
I have deleted my pictures as I have transfered them onto my new laptop and so I can only post an old one that doesnt show the new deluxe trim.
If anyone has any pics please post them here.
Details.
Seller: Dave
Location: Adelaide:
Postcode: 5039:
Contact: U2U or 0413 995 648, I will not answer after 7.30pm(S.A.Time) as my daughter goes to bed then.
Cheers
Dave

The amount of work that went into it , it feels like it was the one above.
Forgot to add that it comes with some goodies, like a new never used Justkampers drive away tent/awning that attaches to the side, also a set of rock
and roll hinges as I didnt manage to finish the rear,
A helphos spotlight(rare as f@#k in the light blue colour) and the roof rack.
Cheers
Dave

I dont know??
I wont be able to post some till after the weekend as I havent had time to set up the new laptop and I have already transfered the pics onto it.
I somehow think that most members know what it looks like, but after the weekend I think I might add a few more pics.
Also I can post pics taken from any angle or of any part, I have nothing to hide.
It is a solid rust FREE bus.
I have spent over $600 on stainless nuts and bolts alone, never mind all the money Creative had of me.
Cheers
Dave

Just thought I would do a bit of a run down on what was done.
Might not have time to finish it tonight so bear with me.
REPLACED WITH NEW
both sills inner and outer on both sides
both rear wheel arches
all outriggers
both center chassis sections
Front nose section had been replaced before I bought it
all solid brake lines
all rubber brake hoses
all slave cylinders
master cylinder
all grommets for brake lines and clips
dropped spindles by RobK
all wheel bearings
shockers(KYB)
tie rods
all gear rod buses
all gearbox mounts
all seals and all rubbers(everything rubber, windows, door seals, lenses, etc)
NOS tail light glass
center brake light glass
headlights
12 volt wiper armature
Stainless mirror arms and mirrors
door handles(rear hatch is the original and in good condition keyed to the rest)
Creative jail bars
Creative deluxe trim
Creative polished pop-outs
westy ally roof rack
hub caps
interior rear view mirror
locks for petrol flap and engine lid
jacking point covers
new side window slide plates
All chrome work was redone including
New nose badge
rear tail light surrounds
center brake light surround
radio blanking plate
rear hatch stay
wiper blades
ash tray
Stainless steel nuts and bots used throughout
All underneath and inside shot blasted after rust was cut out, then painted in POR15, American rust proof paint( this stuff is bloody hard, you can
hit it with a hammer and it wont crack)
Top painted in Glassurit 2 pac after using an epoxy 2 pac under coat.
Engine
1600 tp
new coil
009
fuel pump
extractors
tinwear powdercoated
polished alternator
new clutch, bearing and pressure plate
all engine rubber seals and flywheel seal
All wiring replaced and changed to 12 volts and a new fuse box fitted
Also fitted a KMH speedo with internal fuel guage.
New tyres
new battery
later (larger) fuel tank
Internal top seatbelt mounts fitted to inside of B pillar,(covered at the moment with the roof lining)
The rear has a beetle box straight axle fitted and this gets rid of the reduction hubs and allows you to drive at and above the speed limits, and
lowers the bus 3 inches, it sits nice with the dropped spindles up front and still has full suspension travel.
The dropped spindles give a better ride than a cut and turned bay front beam.
I will also supply the spare paint , Just incase.
I have 4 litres of weis, top colour and 4 litres of basaltblau, the bottom colour, these are old BMW colours that I thought would suit the period of
the bus and still make it a bit differant from the usual blue/white, red/white buses.
Also, I keep remembering things.
When I first started the bus, some 4 years ago, the semaphore sections had been welded over, I didnt want to cut these out again as they have a nice
rolled edge and if I just cut them out this would leave a sharp edge.
So they were left welded up, I have since found some sections from another bus and will give them to the buyer just incase they want to weld them
in.
I bought most of the parts from A, Schofield and made 2 trips to the U.K to get them.
Cheers
Dave

Thank you .
As I said, it must go so make an offer,I have had a few calls from the ad in Just cars and am telling them to come on this site to see more pics.
We might get some new members out of it.
Also as I intend to get another splitty when I am more cashed up and start again.
I am making one condition on the sale.
The prospective buyer must come or send someone they trust to check the bus over first.
I wouldnt buy anything like this just from photos so I wouldnt want anyone else to
Cheers
Dave

Its far from the best in Aus, but it is restored and an honest bus that has been done properly at great expense.
I have had people tell me that they have been quoted $20 K plus to do the body work and paint on a split and if you then add the $20k I have spent on
parts , you get over $40k,
Thats if you cant do the work yourself.
So come on wheres the offers.
Or I start posting pictures????
Cheers
Dave

Side shot of engine.
The stains on the inside of the engine lid is from fish oil, I havent cleaned the excess off yet, I would rather it stayed there for a while.

Heres one of after the welding had been done and before the paint was stripped off.
Well the roof had been stripped and primered.
All the underneath had been done and the new sills, rear guards etc had been fitted and painted in POR15 and the body straightened. I then painted it
the first time with 2 pac epoxy primer, them sanded after using a guide coat, them more primer.
And then left it while I went to England on holiday and also to visit Mr Schofield for more parts.
