mk1 3dr golf FS- 2.0 efi conversion
1976 3door Volkswagen golf LS, extensive professional mods
BODY: rare 3 door rust free. Recently resprayed in alpine white, 3 tiny hardly noticeable dents otherwise its straight as. Tailgate debadged one
side, mk4 chrome “gti” badge other side. Single headlight chrome grill. Front chin spoiler. Mint plastic bumpers. Race style mirrors.
Modified strut towers at front: raised up to lower car without losing suspension travel. Rolled guards. Gti arch spats. Windows tinted. All new
trim strips.
HANDLING/WHEELS: 17x7 advanti wheels (two tiny scuffs on outer lip cant even see them, otherwise mint), 60% yokahama tyres. 6month old bilstein
suspension struts, lowered king spring. Whiteline swaybars F & R. Front underbody strut brace. Brakes are currently standard
ENGINE/DRIVELINE: 2.0 8V engine conversion done professionally with receipts. Most minor parts were replaced with new during conversion. Engine out
of MK3 golf gti, had done 100klms at install (the car was automatic-not thrashed), done another 10,000 since. Engine fuelled by complete EFI
conversion with new tank, fuel pump etc. Injection is the later model Volkswagen “digifant” fully electronic ignition, hence it runs on premium
unleaded. Engine starts first time every time, hasn’t used a drop of oil, and idles beautifully from cold. Only engine mod is a unifilter pod
filter.
“massive” golf turbo diesel radiator.
Gear box is a short ratio 5 spd with a 5spd linkage kit fitted. Gear box was rebuilt prior to being fitted and is in excellent condition.
Clutch was replaced on fitting so is as new, flywheel was lightened making for insane torque, car will pull hard from very low revs.
Exhaust/extractors were custom made at time of engine swap. Exhaust is 2.5 in with a simple angled tip. A nice note not to loud not too quiet.
INTERIOR: Professionally designed and constructed polished alloy half roll cage, incorporates rear strut tower brace.
Stripped out rear of car (rear seats and floor removed).
2x sparco harnesses. Driver side 3” 4 point harnesses, expires for motorsport 2007, passenger side 2” 4 point.
Stereo: clarion head unit (CD), response split speakers in front doors.
Autotechnica steering wheel, sparco gear knob.
Headlining is near perfect, dash is cracked a bit but this is hidden by a dash mat. Carpet and door cards are both good considering the cars age.
2x new VDO gauges for oil and water temp
Just serviced, brand new wheel bearings.
The car is a perfect daily driver. It is amazingly economical and runs absolutely faultlessly. The 2 litre engine gives mountains of torque with the
lightened flywheel and cars lightweight. Handling is amazing to say the least, these cars are great standard with these mods it is near perfect.
This is a very very regretful sale. A great deal of time effort and money has gone into this car. I am selling it as it is far from perfect for
carting my 3 big mountain bikes around. Enquiries/more info/more photos call simon 0438 310 984 or email sdf@utas.edu.au please don’t respond here
