I suppose its a novel way to get more headroom.

No where near big enough.
I just cant understand why people used to do this, if they wanted more room get an awning or a bloody tent.
You would have cut the roof off to put another one on to bring it back to stock and thats not really viable as it would cost a mint.
Its just my opinion and some might like the double decker bus look.
Cheers
Dave

Initially I was a bit appalled, but you know, it almost looks factory. Might be worth finding some pics of a factory hightop and trying to match
it.
That's the original roof on top of the extention isn't it. I reckon just match the front and it'll do the trick. But, I'd get rid of the caravan
window...

who ever owned it before it ended up there did a smart job
with the red oxide paint on the floor & the underside
very little rust, the high top seems to have attracted the
bulk of rust, not clear in pics but the sills are in great condition
when the 64 is finished this is going straight in for work
the 59 i bought from :puke ppl not worth it will be stored
i spotted something in a backyard on the way to nymboida today
stopped on the way back & with binoculars believe its a type 3 van
in overgrown bushes, my sons 14 so it may be a good project for him
to have for when its time for his licence (i will convert him to vw's)
picking split up on the weekend, the farmer will bring down the mountain
for me as there is no way i could retrieve it, a very nice bloke

nymboida way up the top of the mountain, the farmer that owned
it was up there logging & couldnt believe i came up the hill in a kombi
mind you how the hell did that one get there
4wd's only but they foregot about the ever reliable kombi's.
i jumped out & started to walk down to take this pic & ended
up running down against my will & drove down in first & with
brakes on but that steep just slid most of the way.
