There is a guy on SSVC who did a great post on there site regarding the Justkampers hinges, I had it as a favorite on my old comp, but forgot to save it on this one.
Go on there site and ask for it,

There yours Roy...got the instructions and info from that site no worries and thanks, just some measurements would be good.
I think the instructions are based on the whole kit including the timber from justkampers.

No worries, I'm always up for a challenge...
Will post pics and measurements as it happens...stay tuned will be starting this week end nn[ Edited on 3-7-2005 by kafer69 ]

Started fitting the rock and roll seat to my sons kombi yesterday. Well by seat I mean hinges beacause other thab some basic drawings thats all you get.

The challenge came in that there were no measurements for anything so all was done through trial and error.

I have added a few extra bits to mine to make it sronger. At the end of the day it's a seat so needs some strength. I also spent a lot of time getting the back of the bed level with the top of the engine cover.

I also changed mine from the sketch to get the seat bottom sitting flat on the sides and the front piece which the sketches I had didn't. It's solid as a rock when you sit on it and has know sag with the addition of the centre support.

The trick is getting the seat angles right for comfort and then being able to fold the bed down and have it sitting level with the engine cover.

The hinges have locking pins to locate the seat into the right angle, but I couldn't get it to sit right and work well as a bed. I came to the conclusion that maybe the pins hadn't been correctly located.

Back rest folded down to form bed. This now sits nicw and flush with rear deck. I will get som angle bent to sit under the edge to support the back to make it firm and prevent sagging.

This is the end result as the seat. The centre support not included in instructions adds needed support and prevents sagging.

Folded down into bed. All that is needed to finish it off is fitment of the support bracket for the front piece of the bed to make it level. I'll fit this next week end.

Bottom of the seat lifts to reveal storage area.

I bought 2 sheets of 1800 x 1200 17mm ply and used a sheet and a half. The sheets cost me $40.00 dollars each and the hardware cost me $20.00. I've taken measurements which I will post when it's finished which will atleast give you a starting point.
I also took me 2 templates of 12mm ply to get the ends right for the hinges mainly because of the anount of holes drilled in them to get the hinge angle right.
It was worth it in the end.

Very nice indeed.

Regarding the problem with getting the seat base to sit right and have the bed at the right level, I can tell you roughly what they did on mine. Sure mine's the sort with the pivoted bars etc, but there's one bit that may apply.

When mine's in the seat position, it sits flat against the ply. However, when it's folded to the bed position there are a couple of plate steel feet which sit on the front edge of the ply base. They don't touch the base in seat mode.
The feet give maybe 10cm more height.

edit: oops. Missed the post saying you were going to put the brackets in. BTW, nice hinges. are they HT steel?nn[ Edited on 10-7-2005 byGeneral_Failure ]

Supports fitted for the bed when it is folded in place. I cut the slots snug as opposed to the pics I had. I figured I can cover the front panel with carpet and just cut a slot in the carpet so you can't see them. Having them snug will also stop sideways movement.

In bed position...the gap between the front panel is there as per instructions...when in seat position the it sits flat on the front panel...thats what the brackets are for.
