What do you pll think the car is really worth ?
The body is amazingly straight and free of rust considering the paint job was done over 18 years ago!:thumbnn[ Edited on 7-7-2005 by Gilly ]nn[ Editedon 7-7-2005 by Gilly ]

Really hard to say

BUT

you asked so here goes

Yes - it seems good for $9k, very good

A good oval is worth.....$5k easy

Add a decent 1916 and you are at $9k

That said - a few things are not my cup of tea (one piece windows for eg)
Will it pass rego??
Have the drums/rotors been redrilled or are they propper?
What will it rego as?? cant be an oval if on a late pan??
Does the motor work?? Who built it?? Is it dialled in??

There was a post by some one here (Dave B) who does EXCELLENT work that has just finished a 54?? oval (heart lights etc etc ) with a 1600 and kads.
That is in the $13k bracket and worth every penny
Do a search during the last month or 2 in members rides

does it come with all the right paper work ( engineers for engine and seats) cause if it doesnt its going to be a problem in nsw to register.

What he said.....

From the photos it *looks* like a beetle that should be in that price range, especially if the engine is a good 1914 and not a throw together one.

I'd say its worth the money.

welcome to the forum

my opinion is,
if ur into that style (dechromed, high back seats, 1 piece windows) and if the body and interior is as good as it looks in the pics, and the car defintly comes with engineers certificate for the later pan and other mods, get a blue slip off the seller (if ur in NSW) so u know it will pass rego hit him at 7000 and go from there. u probably wont build one for that price.

BTW: wat needs doing for rego? has it been sitting long?
wat state r u in?nn[ Edited on 7-7-2005 by VWFOOL ]

All thats been said, plus I would put it up on a hoist and have a deent look underneath, any rust in heater channels and pillars will be costly to fix!

nice project but unclassic and unoriginal...lovely colour and if it chugs alright it will get the looks with the mod mags and one piece.

being later pan the brakes & rustshould be ok .
Few cars look like that for under $9Gs inthis vintage go for $7Gs with RWC and safety and engine receipts etc

Thanks for the quick response guys
To answer a few questions, the motor does run and I cannot recall who built it by name just that hes around the Hills way in Sydney.
Is the frameless windows unusual? I quite like them
What the car needs for rego is basically the semphore blinkers fixed as they do not flash and are weak in motion to move up/down every thing else is fine.
The body is in remarkable condition for its age just minature cracks in the paint in the water channels.
There is no rust and looking intp the spare wheel well it appears that the car hasnt even been in a front ender before the owner has had it for 27 years.
The only thing is that its been out of rego since 1998 and since sitting on a later model chassis what is it registered as.
I will speak to the seller soon and find out the nitty gritty as I do not want to pay more than $7000+blue slip+rego

I cannot recall who built it by name just that hes around the Hills way in Sydney. - am guessing Andrew Dodd - no probs there at all

Is the frameless windows unusual? - no=ish, just they usually seal poorly and rattle, and can twist when using. OK for a no rain can, but if it lives outside 24/7 in can be a problem.
There isd an oval called Cool 56 that has the best one pieces ever. I believe Klacks did them. When you look at them the difference is remarkable. The seal goes ALL the way round . Not the usual gap at the front bottom corner

You will not build that car for $9k

Agreed
the one piece windows aren't that odd, and in some cases they look pretty good. Their performance though varies according to effort and materials. Some of the folk here would have good sets and some could tell you their stories.......
As for the rest of the car, as the others have said, does it have engineering certs for the engine, seats etc? Oh, and if you want to check if the car/shell has been in a front or rear bingle. The skirt at each end should have four vertical pressings, two on either side of the centre, if there is three at one end then the metal was replaced at some stage.
For rear indicators, if you like the lines unspoiled, try using motorcycle indicators, but mount them inside the vent area above the rear decklid. For front ones, you may have to splurge and buy a set of headlights with the indicator bulbs inside.
Definitely agree with get it on a hoist and check for rust. If you can (don't know how you would do this) check at the base of the door (A) pillars, there should be a metal heater pipe running down into the space there blocking your view. thats where I have seen a crap load of rust in ovals.
But as someone who is doing up an oval of (smaller engine) similar sort of mods, I reckon if you can get engineer certification and there is none or exceptionally minimal (ie: only surface) rust. Then $9k is a fair asking price,
but to buy :D
I'd offer a bit below and go from there ;)
